Care for beautiful lips. Which cosmetics to choose?
Care for beautiful lips. Which cosmetics to choose?

Lips, like eyes, are an important attribute of attractiveness. When looking at someone during a conversation, we will almost always pay attention to these two basic elements of the face. Despite this, we often do not take care of our lips as much as we do other parts of the body. Only when they become dry, rough and chapped, we decide to use cosmetics that regenerate the epidermis. Check what you can do for your lips to bring out their true beauty!

The lips are characterized by an extremely delicate epidermis, which is significantly different from the skin covering the rest of the body. We will not find hair or sweat glands on them, only a trace amount of sebaceous glands. The disadvantage of this type of epidermis is the lack of resistance to external factors. That is why, due to the thin epithelial layer, the lips require special care.

What to do to prevent damage?

  • Avoid smoking cigarettes.
  • Enrich your diet with a large amount of fluids drunk daily, as well as vitamins: A, E and C.
  • Don’t bite your lips.
  • Avoid licking dry lips when exposed to wind, frost or dry air.
  • Do not pick the cuticles and dry places on their surface.

How to take care of your lips when they are dry?

  1. Moisturize and oil. This is the most important rule of caring for the skin of the lips, because they have few hydrolipid glands. Apply lotion, lip balm, cream or serum frequently. Regular hydration is essential.
  2. Use special masks. In the case of very severe chapped lips, the best way will be to use a regenerating mask. Remember that the aging process also covers this part of the body – the lips lose their firmness very quickly, so with age you should enrich the care. Bet on masks containing natural ingredients, such as: clay, shea butter or algae.
  3. However, do not overdo it – once a week is enough to improve microcirculation and remove dead skin. Thanks to this, the lipstick or lip balm will be better absorbed and regeneration will occur faster. You can buy a lip scrub at the store or make it yourself: apply a little honey with brown sugar on your lips.
  4. Ideally, every morning, after brushing your teeth, massage your lips with a soft brush (e.g. a toothbrush). Do not use this method in the case of cracked skin, cold sores and zygody.

Which is the most effective – cream, lipstick or serum?

Definitely the third option is the best way to protect, care for and nourish the delicate skin of the lips. The serum supports the reconstruction of the lipid coat, intensively moisturizes and, as a result, protects against the harmful effects of external factors.

The right serum must contain: SPF filter, vitamins (especially B5, E and A) that protect the lips against moisture loss, nourishing and moisturizing substances (castor oil, sea buckthorn oil, shea butter).

On a daily basis, we can use a moisturizing lip gloss or a nourishing and moisturizing lip balm, especially if it contains shea butter
