Carcinogenic toasts

The fault is the starch in potatoes, which causes the release of carcinogenic acrylamides at high temperatures. This critical temperature is already 120 degrees Celsius.

Said acrylamides can also be found in bread crusts, cakes, and cereals. Unfortunately, they are also in coffee. And of course in cigarette smoke.

Although there are voices that we would have to eat whole kilograms of burnt toasts every day to get cancer, in this case it is probably better not to risk it and not test it on yourself. And since most of us cannot completely give up “burning” in our menu, let’s remember to balance its carcinogenic effect with antioxidants and remember to include vegetables in every meal.
