Hostesses tend to want to surprise guests with unusual and tasty dishes. To make the holiday and treats memorable for a long time, you can prepare the Capercaillie’s Nest salad. Such a dish will delight the audience with its original design and delicate taste. In addition, its creation does not take much time and effort, which makes it even more attractive.
The recipe for this dish is for about 6-8 servings. Cooking time – 30 minutes.
Ingredients: – chicken fillet – 500 g; – chicken eggs – 5 pcs.; – pickled mushrooms – 250 g; – onion – 1 pc .; – medium-sized potatoes – 3 pcs.; – ham – 100 g; – parsley – 1 bunch; – quail eggs – 3 pcs.; – sunflower oil – 5 tbsp. spoons; – mayonnaise – 250 g; – salt and black pepper to taste.
Open the chicken fillet in salted water until tender. Cooking time is about 20 minutes after boiling. Cool to room temperature and divide into thick fibers.
Peel the potatoes and cut into very thin strips. Season with salt, pepper and fry in vegetable oil. It should be golden brown and crispy, so it is important to fry it over hot oil and high heat. Cool the finished potatoes to room temperature.
To prevent the potatoes from getting too greasy, immediately after being cooked, spread them in an even layer on a plate covered with a paper napkin.
Boil the eggs hard-boiled, cool, peel and separate the whites from the yolks. Grate the proteins on a coarse grater. Peel the onion and cut into small cubes. To make it lose its bitterness, pour boiling water over it for a couple of minutes, and then discard it in a colander. Cut the ham into thin strips.
In a deep salad bowl, combine the ham, proteins, honey mushrooms, onion and chicken fillet. Season with mayonnaise and stir gently. Make a small indentation in the center of the salad and put finely chopped parsley there, and place the fried potatoes around the edge, imitating a bird’s nest. Place three hard-boiled and peeled quail eggs on top of the greens. Chill the Capercaillie’s Nest salad in the refrigerator and serve.
You can also decorate the iconic Capercaillie Nest salad in another way, for example, on a flat plate. To do this, line a plate with clean and dry lettuce leaves, put the ingredients mixed and seasoned with mayonnaise in a neat slide in the middle. Decorate the sides of this slide with fried potatoes, the middle with herbs and eggs.
In the absence of quail eggs, you can make a salad dressing yourself. The leftover yolks will come in handy for this. Just mash them with a fork and season with salt and pepper to taste. Add 1 teaspoon of grated processed cheese and 1 teaspoon of mayonnaise. Mix everything thoroughly until a homogeneous consistency and mold eggs from the resulting mass. It will be easier to do this if you first roll the round balls, then the improvised eggs will turn out to be more beautiful and truthful.
