1/ 4 Cannabidiol is not addictive

– Cannabidiol is practically non-addictive and has no psychotic effects – explains Prof. Stanisław Czuczwar, pharmacologist, vice president of the Polish Academy of Sciences. The arguments of the opponents of the medical use of marijuana regarding the risk of addiction are wrong, because this substance does not cause a feeling of pleasure and the patient does not enter into a narcotic state. However, such an approach results in the fact that we often do not use the therapeutic effect of this substance. Prof. Jerzy Vetulani from the Institute of Pharmacology of the Polish Academy of Sciences in Krakow points out that due to social phobias, it is difficult to conduct large-scale studies on the therapeutic effects of cannabis components, which for many patients could be the only salvation.

2/ 4 Cannabidiol has healing properties

Experts emphasize that the ingredients of cannabis may be helpful in preventing nausea and vomiting in the course of cancer therapy, as well as in the treatment of muscle spasticity and neuropathic pain in multiple sclerosis. Pharmacologist prof. Jolanta Zawilska from the Medical University of Lodz emphasizes that there is hard evidence that these compounds work in these specific cases. Researchers believe that cannabis-based preparations are useful in the treatment of other diseases, such as epilepsy. Marek Bachański, who treated children suffering from severe drug-resistant epilepsy at the Children’s Memorial Health Institute with medical marijuana, talks about cases of patients who have been greatly helped by such therapy, and the frequency of epileptic seizures has decreased by 30-80%.

3/ 4 Cannabidiol is available

Cannabidiol has no side effects even in high doses, unlike THC, which can cause side effects even in small amounts. However, some patients who need to use THC, for example in severe drug-resistant epilepsy, fight for access to marijuana containing this substance. Therefore, in the media, sick people and doctors demand complete legalization of all types of marijuana. – Disruptions and limitations in accessing marijuana with THC cause more and more interest in its legal cousin with CBD. Especially since scientific research shows that CBD has a wider range of therapeutic applications than THC, but does not show side effects – says Maciej Niemczyk, producer and distributor of industrial hemp, founder of Biokonopia.

4/ 4 CBD is legal

Surprisingly, medicinal marijuana that contains only medical CBD and no narcotic THC or containing less than 0,2% of THC. is completely legal in Poland and the entire European Union. Maciej Niemczyk explains that this is due to the fact that it is obtained from hemp, which does not contain more than 0,2 percent. THC. Such cannabis is admitted to trading in European Union countries, including Poland, provided that a special cultivation permit is obtained. The legality of this substance means that doctors and patients are more interested in it.
