And in the near future, the temperature outside our windows will exceed 30 degrees C. Being indoors in heat can be very difficult for many people. How to deal with it? One way is to ventilate properly. How to do it correctly, says Patrycja Jackowska, ENT specialist at Wrocław Medical Center
- When there are high temperatures outside the window, it is worth considering the proper ventilation of the rooms in which we are staying
- However, we should do it in the morning
- In later days, we should take care not to let warm air inside

Hot weather and opening windows
Our first thought, when the sun is scorching too much, is to open the window. Should we do this at any time of the day? Doubts are explained by Patrycja Jackowska, ENT specialist from Wrocław Medical Center.
– From the doctor’s perspective, opening the window in very hot weather is advisable only at dawn or in the early morning hours when the outside temperature is still quite low. Then the window can be tilted, opened and the apartment ventilated in order to improve air circulation. Later, the window should be closed, because only hot air will enter the room, explains the doctor.
During the day, we should do everything to limit the flow of warm air inside.
– If it is possible, during the hours when the sun shines the most and the temperatures are the highest, you should close the blinds or curtains so that the room does not heat up, and as much as possible to maintain a constant temperature in the room – adds Jackowska.
When we talk about high temperatures, we must not forget about protection against the sun. In Medonet Market you will find SPF 50+ FLOSLEK sunscreen.
The doctor’s advice will also be useful during the holidays, when we most often travel to countries where the temperatures are higher than in Poland.
– In the event of very high temperatures, up to 40 degrees C, airing of rooms should take place as early as possible. On such days, even at 8-9 is usually quite hot. When, in turn, the temperature rises, close the window and cover the blinds – explains the laryngologist.
Hot weather and sleeping with the window open
Should you sleep with the window open in hot weather?
– Absolutely. The temperature is lower at night and in the late evening hours. It is worth opening the window to ventilate the room in order to circulate air. Fresh air has an impact on the quality of sleep and night rest – says Patrycja Jackowska.
However, we should not strictly stick to the open eyes. What do you need to remember?
– Drafts and temperature changes should be avoided, because such situations may cause infections of the upper respiratory tract, and even neuralgia, paralysis of the facial nerve – explains the laryngologist.
