Can you lose weight by eating what you like?
The presented situation is a very common problem for people determined to achieve their goals. Eating just rice cakes, celery and washing it all down with 0% yogurt doesn’t make much sense. What happens if we hate each of these products, but if we grit our teeth and eat dietary foods? It turns out that this approach can backfire – discouragement and forbidden goodies.
Can you eat bread and pasta on a diet?
Mistakes in thinking about diets
For many people, a diet is a sacrifice, giving up pleasure, a cut-out stage from life, which is best to end as soon as possible and forget about it even faster. This belief has been established a long time ago and lingers in the minds of most people on a diet. And the truth is completely different. To lose weight healthily and permanently, you should eat varied meals, tailored to your own needs and preferences. Of course, some changes will be inevitable, e.g. reducing sweets, fatty meats or sweetened drinks, regulating meals. However, it makes no sense to completely exclude “on the basis” of, for example, bread – because it supposedly makes full-fat dairy products fat – because fat is evil, pasta – because all people who are slimming know that pasta = belly fat. It can not be like that. Our slimming must become a pleasure, an opportunity to meet new, interesting tastes, nourish the body, but also the opportunity to enjoy your favorite products. Often it is enough to slightly modify or reduce the amount of your favorite dishes so that they can be safely included in the diet.
Calories are essential
Not everyone knows that the basis of our weight loss is the appropriate selection of calories and basic nutrients. An individual approach and rational selection of meals allow you to compose a diet that will not be burdensome for the person using it. Consequently, it will increase the effects of weight loss and reduce the risk of discouragement and abandonment of the diet.
And in fact, we have a lot of room to show off. It is important that the demand for all these elements is ensured. How to do it so as not to force yourself to unhappy meals from your diet? Here are some suggestions:
1.I don’t like crispbread
If you do not like crispbread and you love fresh bread, there is no reason to get tired. Crispy bread is not as dietary as it seems. It has a high Glycemic Index, so when you eat it, you will feel hungry faster. Nothing prevents us from eating a slice of whole grain bread instead of two cereals, which will additionally provide us with dietary fiber, which swells in the stomach, giving us a feeling of fullness.
What are milk substitutes?
2. I don’t like milk
You do not need to drink milk, so you can eat yogurt, kefir or buttermilk instead. In addition, it will be a source of bacteria that are beneficial for our body. In addition, there is absolutely no need to eat skim dairy products, I will say more – it is downright illogical. Fat can be reduced in other ways – by reducing the amount of spread, replacing cream with yogurt, or choosing lean meats. It makes no sense to take this small amount of fat from dairy products, which, firstly, for many people significantly reduces the palatability (fat is the carrier of taste), and secondly, it is necessary for the absorption of many fat-soluble ingredients, e.g. vitamins A, D, E, K .
Do you have to eat groats on your diet?
3. I don’t like groats
Groats are healthy and valuable, but they are not an irreplaceable product. If we don’t like her, there is no tragedy. You can efficiently replace it in the diet with a few changes, which should start with the introduction of brown rice or wholemeal pasta.
What to drink instead of water?
4. I don’t like water
And it is not necessary to drink it at all. Of course, we should provide the right amount of fluids – about 30 ml for every kilogram of body weight. However, there is no requirement that it should be clean water. We can also drink unsweetened fruit, herbal, green or red tea well.
These are just a few of the most popular examples. You can keep multiplying them endlessly, in fact, in most cases there are no irreplaceable things – instead of porridge or muesli with milk in the morning, you can eat a balanced sandwich as well, instead of steamed meat – stewed, instead of turkey breast – chicken breast. The most important thing is to maintain the taste and joy of eating while maintaining the proper balance of the diet.
Let’s remember that healthy food does not have to be tasteless, and effective and lasting slimming simply has to be tasty! Extensive restrictions and forcing yourself to overheard “meals” considered dietary does not make much sense and most likely sooner or later will lead to the abandonment of the exhausting diet. Sometimes it is better to spend a little more time, but to lose weight with pleasure and keep the habits instilled forever.
And what are your proven substitutes? Which dishes and products can you not give up? Let me know!
