While the COVD-19 coronavirus is extremely dangerous, some people experience it asymptomatically. So, is the body able to fight the infection on its own? This question was asked by dr hab. n. med. Tomasz Dzieśćtkowski, a virologist from the Medical University of Warsaw.

At that time, characteristic symptoms of virus infection were noticed, which were then described by the World Health Organization. They may be associated with muscle aches, anosmia (sudden loss of smell), sore throat and general body weakness.

Due to the fact that these symptoms also appear with flu and colds, it was difficult to initially make a diagnosis. Only laboratory studies have confirmed that this is a new type of coronavirus, COVID-19, which affects the upper respiratory tract, impairing their function. The coronavirus disease can be asymptomatic, mild or severe.
