A little girl in Ingushetia underwent female circumcision “so that she would not get aroused.” Now a criminal case has been opened against the doctor of the clinic. This is the first such case in Russia.
The story that happened last year in Ingushetia goes beyond good and evil. A 9-year-old girl underwent female circumcision against her will and without the knowledge of her mother.
The victim’s mother told the publication that the girl’s father divorced even before her birth, when he brought his second wife into the house.
The woman lived with her daughter in Chechnya, while her father and his other family lived in Ingushetia. The man was not interested in the heiress and saw her a maximum of three times, until last summer he unexpectedly invited her and her older brother to visit the city of Magas.
The children came to their father, and the very next day the frightened son called the mother at home and said that the girl was taken to the hospital, and she returned home in tears and blood.
The stepmother took the child to the hospital under the pretext that she needed to be vaccinated. There she was forcibly operated on. Neither the presence of a legal representative, nor a written consent – none of this happened.
In the evening of the same day, the father sent the children home to their mother by minibus.
Already at home, the girl’s temperature rose and she was urgently hospitalized. The surgeon on duty found “a 5 × 6 millimeter cut wound in the clitoris and labia minora.” In addition, the child now also has psychological trauma – she is afraid of doctors and cries non-stop.
The girl’s mother called her father in horror and asked why he did it. The answer was: “So that she does not get excited.”
“They have it in the family. They also forced me to be circumcised. She was young, stupid, in love. But I never wanted my daughter like that, ”the woman said.
The mother of the victim did not so easily leave what happened to her child. She turned to the Ingush prosecutor’s office, and then to the Chechen Investigative Committee.
As a result, this story became public, and the “Legal Initiative” project turned to the department of the Investigative Committee for Ingushetia with a request to check the Aibolit clinic in Magas, where a 9-year-old girl was crippled.
A criminal case has been opened over the fact of an illegal and crippling operation – and this is the first such case for Russia. The accused is doctor Izanya Nalgieva. It was she who performed the operation.
Human rights activists demand to bring to justice not only the woman, but also the top management of the clinic, as well as the father and stepmother of a 9-year-old girl, whose life will never be the same.
