Can a pregnant woman take Espumisan?

Hello. I am 40 and 29 weeks pregnant. I am under the constant supervision of a gynecologist, everything is going well from the beginning of my pregnancy, of course I have pregnancy symptoms, but they are not severe, my only problem is flatulence. No matter what I eat, no matter what amount I suffer from flatulence, which lasts for a long time, is so great that it causes not only a lot of discomfort in functioning, but also pain in the abdomen.

My question is about the drug, and more precisely, can it be used Espumisan in pregnancy? What is the composition of the drug? The gynecologist did not recommend any measures, but I am tired of this condition, bloating persists, and I have gas, so I wonder if Espumisan can be used by pregnant women, if so, in what doses and in what frequency. Maybe I should change something in my daily diet? Can constant, nagging gas be a threat to my baby? I am asking for advice, because it is a drug, I have doubts as to whether an over-the-counter drug is a reasonable solution.

The doctor advises whether Espumisan can be used during pregnancy

Dear Madam, Espumisan is a drug used to treat gastrointestinal disorders associated with the accumulation of excessive amounts of gases in the gastrointestinal tract. The active substance of the drug is simethicone – a silicon compound that reduces the surface tension at the interface between the gas and liquid phases, thus causing gas bubbles to burst. Simethicone is not absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract and therefore has no effect on the fetus and does not affect intestinal motility.

The drug is not contraindicated in pregnant or breastfeeding women, so if you experience symptoms such as bloating or a feeling of fullness in the epigastrium then you can use the drug the most. Of course, it should be remembered that the contraindication is hypersensitivity to any component of the drug. Espumisan should be used with or after a meal in a dose of 80 mg 3-4 times a day. As for the diet, you should avoid flatulant products and carbonated drinks.

If the symptoms persist or worsen despite taking the drug, please visit a gynecologist, perhaps the causes of your symptoms are completely different than expected. If necessary, the gynecologist will definitely order appropriate tests.
