What is the cause of pimples on the chin? Are these changes hormonal? Do pimples mean disease? Is diet influencing the changes? The question is answered by the drug. Paweł Żmuda-Trzebiatowski.

Could chin pimples be caused by hormonal imbalances?

Good day. I am a young girl, I am only 18 years old, but I have the impression that there is something wrong with my body. For a long time (more or less from the 3rd grade of junior high school) my face, let me put it bluntly, looks terrible. My chin is full of pimples, which makes me ashamed to go out to people. I don’t like to pose for photos because all of them have pimples glowing and I look bad. I am writing to you because temporarily I cannot even afford to go to a private appointment with a dermatologist.

Could pimples on my chin mean I have any? hormone problems? Do they mean that I am sick with something? The biology teacher told us that many teenagers have pimples, but when I compare myself to my friends, I have the impression that they do not have as many pimples as I do. What are the others causes of pimples on the chin? Maybe it’s a bad diet? Mum serves me rather standard dinners (meat, potatoes, salad, etc.) I like white chocolate bars and drink a lot of fizzy drinks. I’m not fat, but I have little sides. I don’t know how much exactly I weigh, but I bet I’m about 4-5 kg overweight. Thank you for your help. Kamil.

The doctor explains the causes of pimples on the chin

Mrs. Kamila, as your biology teacher mentioned, acne in people your age is a common ailment. The fact that in your case it is more intense than in the case of your friends does not necessarily indicate a disease. It is true that generally such acne is not very severe, but sometimes you are just predisposed to more advanced form of acne. Acne in young people most often results from hormonal disorders associated with adolescence and in most cases it resolves on its own.

Of course, there are factors that increase the risk of acne prolongation or its aggravation. In addition to hormonal disorders in adolescence, the tendency to excess sebum production should be taken into account. In this case, the use of appropriate dermocosmetics should bring relief. The excess sebum promotes the growth of additional bacteria acne aggravating factor. Excessive keratinization of the hair follicle can also contribute to the development of acne.

It is worth remembering about polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), in which there is an increase in testosterone in the blood. Its metabolite – dihydroxytestosterone is responsible for the production of sebum by the relevant glands. A higher concentration of dihydroxytestosterone results in an increase in sebum production. There are also reasons considered trivial and often forgotten. These include chronic stress and fatigue. Excess stress hormones, especially cortisol disturbs the secretory metabolism, causing increased secretion of sebum by the skin glands.

Improper skin care along with environmental pollution and, above all, air pollution, also affect the problem you mentioned. You mentioned an incorrect diet. The most inadequate diet, rich in processed foods, increases risk of aggravation of acne lesions. This can often be seen after eating chocolate or chips. As you can see, there can be many reasons, so I suggest you go to your family doctor and then refer you to a dermatologist.
