Camassia: landing, leaving

Camassia is a delicate and beautiful plant with inflorescences of blue, blue, white or purple. This can be seen if you plant a flower in the garden and take care of it properly.

Planting camassia in open ground

You can grow this flower from bulbs or seeds. It is better to choose the first method, as it will allow you to see flowering earlier. Planting material can be purchased at a flower shop.

Camassia blooms in early June

After purchase, place the bulbs in a container with moist peat for a few days. Treat them with fungicides to prevent disease immediately before planting. Planting is carried out in the fall and takes place in this way:

  • In the spring, determine a growing site. It should be sunny and calm. The flower can be grown in partial shade, but flowering in this case will not be so abundant. Dig up the ground, remove weeds and stones.
  • Prepare the soil in the fall. Loosen it again and add a mixture of humus and peat.
  • Dig holes 20 cm deep and about 15 cm apart. At the bottom, drain small stones or gravel.
  • Place the bulbs in the holes, bury them in soil and lightly tamp the top layer.
  • Pour water over the ground and cover the surface. Use peat or straw.

This is how Camassia bulbs are planted. When using seeds, they are placed in the ground 2 cm deep. The rest of the planting process is no different.

Planting camassia in the garden is quite simple. This does not require special knowledge or other tricks.

As the flower grows, the gardener needs to take care of it. The care is as follows:

  • Water the plant with lukewarm water at room temperature when the topsoil is dry. In dry weather and during flowering, do this 3 times a week. Watering should be done in the evening.
  • After watering, water and loosen the soil. This is important for oxygen supply.
  • Fertilize the soil. Do the first feeding in the spring with the appearance of the first leaves. Use complex and nitrogen fertilizers. Add fertilizer to the soil a second time during the budding period. Then it is better to use complex fertilizers or superphosphate.
  • Monitor the condition of the leaves and inflorescences. Use special products for the treatment and prevention of diseases. Protect the plant from pests.
  • Cut off dead stalks in time, leaving about 5 cm from the stem.
  • For the winter, cover the top layer of the earth with peat or dry foliage.
  • Transplant flowers to a new location every 5 years.

These simple rules will allow the grower to grow healthy and beautiful flowers for many years.

Touching inflorescences, similar to stars and small lilies, will harmoniously fit into the landscape of the garden area.
