Because of the bizarre shape of calendula petals, people call it marigolds. These bright orange or bright yellow flowers with a delicate aroma are widely used in folk medicine. For example, they are used in the treatment of female diseases.

Useful properties of calendula

The flowers of calendula contain a huge amount of vitamins of groups B, A, C, ascorbic, salicylic and malic acids, essential oils, alkaloids, phytoncides and other biologically active substances.

Due to such a rich composition, the flowers of this medicinal plant are widely used as an anti-inflammatory, wound-healing and bactericidal agent. They are used for fibroids, cervical erosion, endometriosis, infertility and other diseases in gynecology.

Medicines containing calendula are not recommended during pregnancy, as they can provoke a miscarriage or premature birth.

Calendula in the treatment of cervical erosion

To cure this condition, a tincture of calendula can be used. You can buy a ready-made drug or prepare this drug yourself.

Its recipe is as follows:

  • 20 g marigold flowers
  • 100 ml of 40% alcohol or vodka

The flowers are poured with alcohol or vodka and infused for 2-3 days. When treating erosion 1 tsp. tinctures are diluted with 200 ml of chilled boiled water. This solution is used for douching: it has bactericidal and anti-inflammatory properties, and also promotes the rapid restoration of mucous membranes.

Erosion can also be treated with calendula infusion.

It is prepared from:

  • 400 ml boiling water
  • 2 tsp calendula flowers

Raw materials are poured with boiling water and insisted for 1-1,5 hours, after which they are filtered. The course of treatment is 21 days. Douching begins the day after the end of menstruation.

In most cases, in order to recover, 1 course is enough, although if necessary, after a week’s break, the treatment course can be repeated

Calendula oil can be used to treat this disease.

To prepare it, you need the following components:

  • 200 ml of vegetable oil
  • 20 g calendula flowers

The ingredients are mixed, after which the mixture is infused for 10-12 days, then filtered. Cotton-gauze tampons are made with this oil, they are left overnight. The treatment course is 5-7 days.

Treatment of fibroids with medicinal herbs is especially effective.

The fee consists of:

  • 3 g motherwort
  • 1 g calendula flowers
  • 2 g hawthorn
  • 2 g St. John’s wort
  • 1 g buckthorn bark
  • 1 g of chamomile inflorescences
  • 3 g immortelle

This collection is poured into ½ liter of boiling water and left in a thermos overnight. Take the “drug” 200 ml twice a day 25-30 minutes before meals. The recommended treatment course is 3-4 months.

With menopause, it is recommended to take 30 drops of calendula tincture three times a day before meals: it should be washed down with tea made from oregano or blackberry leaves

The use of calendula for thrush

For douching, a decoction of calendula is prepared (for 1 liter of water, 2 tablespoons of calendula flowers are taken): the raw material is poured with water, the product is brought to a boil and cooked over low heat for another 3-5 minutes. After the broth is filtered and cooled to 37оС.

Also, when fighting thrush, calendula baths are made.

First, an infusion is prepared, consisting of the following ingredients:

  • 1 liters of water
  • 2-3 tbsp calendula flowers

The flowers are poured with boiling water, insisted for 2-3 hours and filtered. After this infusion is poured into a bowl with boiled water cooled to a comfortable temperature. It is recommended to take such a bath for 27-30 minutes. According to reviews, after the first procedure, significant relief is felt.
