Calcium Polfa is a preparation used for the prevention and complementary treatment of osteoporosis, osteomalacia and rickets, in conditions of increased demand for calcium (including the period of intensive growth of children and adolescents), states of calcium deficiency in the body, convalescence after prolonged immobilization, as an alternative to colds and allergic diseases, prevention of tetany attacks.

Calcium Polfa Łódź – indications and dosage
Calcium Polfa Łódź are effervescent tablets recommended:
- in the prevention and adjuvant treatment of osteoporosis,
- during osteomalacia and rickets,
- in states of increased calcium deficiency (e.g. the period of intensive growth of children and adolescents),
- during convalescence after prolonged immobilization,
- helpful in colds and allergic diseases,
- prophylactically in tetany attacks.
Dosage of the supplement
Calcium Polfa Łódź are effervescent tablets to be taken orally. Dissolve the tablet in 1/2 glass of water and take it preferably between meals.
Prophylactically
- Adults and children over 15 years of age. 1 tablet 3 × / d.
- Children 3-15. age. 1 tablet 2 × / d.
Healing
- Usually 2 tablets. 3 × / d.
Calcium Polfa Łódź and contraindications
Contraindications to the use of Calcium Polfa Łódź are:
- hypersensitivity to any component of the preparation,
- severe kidney failure,
- hypercalcemia,
- hiperkalciuria,
- kidney stones,
- do not use in children under 3 years of age.
Calcium Polfa Łódź – warnings
- During long-term use of Calcium Polfa Łódź, the concentration of calcium in the blood and its excretion in the urine should be monitored.
- Increased fluid intake is recommended for patients with a tendency to form stones in the urinary tract.
- 1 tablet of Calcium Polfa contains 109 mg of sodium. Should be administered with caution in those on a low sodium diet.
- Before taking the preparation in pregnant women or during breast-feeding, a doctor should be consulted.
Calcium Polfa Łódź and other substances
- The absorption of calcium salts is increased by vitamin D, parathyroid hormone and the acidity of the food.
- Absorption of calcium salts is reduced by: calcitonin, chronic corticosteroids, anticonvulsants (phenytoin, phenobarbital, primidone), excess lipids, phytates, oxalates, phosphates, tobacco, alcohol.
- Oral calcium salts reduce the gastrointestinal absorption of tetracyclines and fluoride compounds (e.g. fluoroquinolones). A 3-hour break is recommended between the administration of the above-mentioned drugs and the calcium preparation.
- The use of Calcium Polfa together with thiazide diuretics increases the risk of hypercalcaemia.
- The supplement may weaken the effect of verapamil and other calcium channel blockers and increase the toxic effect of digitalis glycosides.
Calcium Polfa Łódź – side effects
When using Calcium Polfa Łódź, the following may occur:
- flatulence
- constipation
- diarrhea
- hypercalcaemia (in patients with renal insufficiency).
