The main active substance of the drug is calcium dobesylate, which not only improves the vascular endothelial function, but also reduces the permeability of capillaries caused, for example, by histamine, and also increases their resistance. How exactly does Calcium dobesilate work?

Calcium dobesilate is a drug whose main task is to protect the walls of blood vessels, thus improving peripheral venous circulation.

Calcium dobesilate – application

Calcium dobesilate is a medicine available in the form of film-coated tablets. One package contains 30 tablets of 250 mg. The main application of the drug is primarily to improve peripheral venous circulation by minimizing the permeability of capillaries. Calcium dobesilate is prescribed in patients diagnosed with vascular eye diseases, varicose veins of the lower extremities, haemorrhoids, hypertension, leg ulcers, hypertension. The active substance of the drug also has anti-oedematous and anti-exudative properties, has a positive effect on microcirculation, and prevents venous embolism. Calcium dobesilate reduces plasma and blood viscosity, improves the elasticity of red blood cells.

Calcium dobesilate is a drug for oral use. The dosage and its frequency should be carried out in accordance with the recommendations of the attending physician or the information contained in the leaflet. The drug is absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract, its maximum concentration in the blood is obtained 6 hours after its administration.

Calcium dobesilate should be taken with a meal. Optimal doses for adults are 500–1000 mg per day, ie 2 tablets 1 or 2 times a day. In most cases, the duration of treatment is from several weeks to several months, depending on the effects. The recommended dose must not be exceeded, if you miss one dose, do not double the next one.

Before starting the treatment, please read the leaflet carefully. You also need to check the expiry date, which should be on each package of the drug. Calcium dobesilate is a drug suited to a specific treatment, so it cannot be used by other people without consulting a doctor first.

Calcium dobesilate, like any other measure, may have side effects. Before starting the proper treatment, you should carefully analyze the composition of the drug, because one of the ingredients may cause an allergic reaction. The drug should not be administered to pregnant and breastfeeding women. Children must not be given the drug. Inform your doctor about taking other medications, although there are no confirmed data on the interaction of the preparation with other agents.

There may be side effects while taking the drug. The most frequently mentioned are symptoms of the digestive system, diarrhea, vomiting and nausea may appear. Other side effects include headaches, joint pain and fever. Undesirable effects in the form of skin lesions rarely occur. If you experience any of the symptoms, please inform your doctor.
