Calcium C Polfa Łódź (leaflet) – composition, dosage of the drug in children

Calcium C is used as an adjunct in colds, flu and allergic diseases, states of increased demand for calcium and vitamin. C, states of calcium deficiency in the body, convalescence after prolonged immobilization and to accelerate the healing of wounds and bone fractures.

ACTION

Calcium C is a combined preparation containing vitamins and minerals.

Calcium C – indications and dosage

Calcium C to to suplement zalecany:

  1. supportive in colds,
  2. in flu and allergic diseases,
  3. in states of increased demand for calcium and vit. C,
  4. in states of calcium deficiency in the body,
  5. during convalescence after prolonged immobilization,
  6. to speed up the healing of wounds and bone fractures.

Dosage of the preparation

Calcium C is in the form of effervescent tablets. Dissolve the tablet in 1/2 glass of water and take it between meals.

Adults and children after 7 years of age.

  1. Prophylactically. 1 tabl./d.
  2. Healing. 1 tablet 3 × / d or individually.

Calcium C and contraindications

Contraindications to taking Calcium C are:

  1. allergy to any component of the preparation,
  2. hiperkalciuria,
  3. hypercalcemia,
  4. fenyloketonuria,
  5. kidney stones,
  6. deficiency of glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase,
  7. severe kidney failure,
  8. use in children up to the age of 3.

Calcium C – warnings

  1. Blood calcium levels and urinary calcium excretion should be monitored during long-term use of Calcium C.
  2. Increased fluid intake is recommended for people with a tendency to form stones in the urinary tract.
  3. 1 tablet of Calcium C contains 109 mg of sodium; use with caution in people on a low-sodium diet.
  4. Calcium C does not contain sugar (contains a sweetener) and can be used by diabetics.
  5. Before using the preparation in pregnant women or during breastfeeding, a doctor should be consulted.

Calcium C and other substances

  1. The absorption of calcium salts is increased by: vitamin D, parathyroid hormone and the acidic reaction of food. Absorption of calcium salts is reduced by: calcitonin, chronic corticosteroids, anticonvulsants (phenytoin, phenobarbital, primidone), excess lipids, phytates, oxalates, phosphates, tobacco, alcohol.
  2. The vitamin C content in the preparation may reduce the effectiveness of anticoagulant and anticholinergic drugs.
  3. Orally administered calcium salts reduce the gastrointestinal absorption of tetracyclines and fluoride compounds (e.g. fluoroquinolones); a 3-hour break is required between the administration of the above drugs and the calcium preparation.
  4. Taking Calcium C supplement concomitantly with thiazide diuretics increases the risk of hypercalcaemia.
  5. Calcium C may reduce the effect of verapamil and other calcium channel blockers and increase the toxic effects of digitalis glycosides.

Calcium C – side effects

Taking Calcium C may cause:

  1. flatulence
  2. diarrhea
  3. constipation
  4. hypercalcemia (in people with renal insufficiency).
