Calcium 500 Polfarmex is used in the prevention and treatment of osteoporosis, supplementation of deficiencies in periods of increased demand (pregnancy, breastfeeding, periods of intensive growth, malabsorption syndrome, bone fractures), in rickets and osteomalacia (as a supplement to basic treatment) and as an adjunct in the treatment of exudates and allergic diseases.

Calcium 500 Polfarmex – indications and dosage

Calcium 500 Polfarmex is a recommended drug:

  1. in the prevention and treatment of osteoporosis – dosage: adults and children after 10 years of age 2 bags / d. In combination therapy with estrogens and vitamin. D 1 bag / d.,
  2. in supplementing deficiencies in periods of increased demand (pregnancy, breastfeeding, periods of intensive growth, malabsorption syndrome, bone fractures) – dosage: adults and children after 10 years of age 1-2 bags / day,
  3. in rickets and osteomalacia (as a supplement to basic treatment) – dosage: adults and children after 10 years of age 2 bags / day,
  4. auxiliary in the treatment of exudates and allergic diseases – dosage: adults and children after 10 years of age 1 bag / d.

Calcium 500 Polfarmex should be administered orally. Dissolve the contents of the bag in 1/2 cup of boiled water and drink the effervescent liquid.

  1. Children 2-5 1/2 bag / d.,
  2. children 6-10. rż. 1 bag / d. Administer orally. Dissolve the contents of the bag in 1/2 cup of boiled water and drink the sparkling liquid.

Calcium 500 Polfarmex and contraindications

Calcium 500 Polfarmex is contraindicated in:

  1. hypercalcemia,
  2. severe hypercalciuria,
  3. hypervitaminosis D,
  4. hyperparathyroidism,
  5. severe renal failure,
  6. kidney stones,
  7. sarcoidosis and other granulomatous diseases,
  8. do not use in children under 2 years of age,
  9. do not use in phenylketonuria.

Calcium 500 Polfarmex – warnings

  1. Use Calcium 500 Polfarmex with caution in hyperparathyroidism and / or thyroid gland, neoplastic diseases with bone metastases, renal failure.
  2. In patients with renal insufficiency, caution should be exercised, i.e. phosphorus limitation and the administration of phosphate binders, to avoid hyperphosphataemia (increased levels of phosphorus in the blood) and the formation of post-bone calcification.
  3. Increased intake of vitamin D should be avoided (except for individual medical recommendations).
  4. In patients with chronic renal failure or a tendency to form stones in the urinary tract, calcium levels in the blood and urine should be monitored.
  5. It should be used with caution in people treated with digitalis preparations.
  6. Calcium 500 Polfarmex can be used during pregnancy and lactation after consulting a doctor.

Calcium 500 Polfarmex and other substances

  1. Calcium 500 Polfarmex may reduce the absorption of tetracycline antibiotics and increase the toxic effects of digitalis glycosides.
  2. The drug used with fluoride preparations may lead to the formation of compounds that are difficult to absorb.
  3. Thiazide diuretics reduce the excretion of calcium; loop diuretics increase the excretion of calcium in the urine.
  4. Glucocorticosteroids, neomycin, hydantoin derivatives, calcitonin, oxalic acid, phytic acid, phosphates, alcohol, caffeine and smoking inhibit calcium absorption, while citric acid, vitamin D and parathyroid hormone intensify.
  5. The drug may reduce the effect of calcium antagonists, especially verapamil.
  6. There should be a 1-3 hour interval between the administration of the preparation and other drugs (especially phenytoin, tetracycline derivatives, fluorine preparations and calcitonin).

Calcium 500 Polfarmex – side effects

Treatment with Calcium 500 Polfarmex may cause the following side effects:

  1. nausea,
  2. vomiting,
  3. constipation
  4. kidney problems
  5. hypercalcaemia (increased levels of calcium in the blood, especially when taking high doses of vitamin D),
  6. long-term use of calcium salts may lead to kidney stones,
  7. calcium deposition in the cornea and conjunctiva and (with the simultaneous consumption of milk) may lead to the symptoms of the milk-alkaline syndrome, dominated by general weakness,
  8. somnolence,
  9. headaches,
  10. nausea and vomiting.

High doses of the drug may increase the risk of arrhythmias and increase in blood pressure.
