Caesar mushroom is a valuable product with excellent taste. He has many names – royal, or Caesarean, mushroom, Caesar’s fly agaric. It received the last name due to the similarity with the fly agaric, but this similarity is only external. The main difference is the absence of poison.
Description of the Caesar mushroom
The diameter of the rounded cap ranges from 8-20 cm. The older the plant, the flatter its top. Also, with age, its edges become velvety. The cap color can be bright yellow or light red. Her flesh is fleshy, juicy, tasty. The leg is white, from 8 to 12 cm high and 2-3 cm thick.
Caesar mushroom is easy to confuse with fly agaric
Amanita Caesar has high environmental requirements, so meeting him is a real good fortune. Usually this mushroom grows in light deciduous forests, likes places under old trees, especially under hazel, beech and birch trees. Sometimes it can be found on the border of forests and meadows. Active growth occurs at temperatures of + 20 ° C and above. Its ripening period is from early July to mid-October.
The king’s mushroom is a rich source of protein. It also contains a lot of vitamins, minerals and other nutrients. It contains a lot of calcium, phosphorus, nicotinic and ascorbic acid. It is a low-calorie ingredient and is easily absorbed by the body. The product is used in cooking and medicine. The extract from this “prince” is used to develop a drug against cancer.
How to cook Caesar mushroom dishes
This product is prepared in the same way as any other forest mushrooms. Here is one recipe.
You will need:
- 500 g mushrooms;
- Xnumx g potatoes;
- onion;
- 4 Art. l. vegetable oils;
- salt and pepper to taste.
Technology of preparation:
- Peel the mushrooms, rinse well, cut into large slices. Pour them with water, bring to a boil, cook for 10 minutes. Drain the water.
- Finely chop the onion, lightly fry in vegetable oil. Add the main ingredient to it, fry everything together for about 10 minutes. The moisture should evaporate, and the mushrooms should brown.
- Put the contents of the pan in a separate container, and fry half rings of potatoes in the same oil. When the potatoes are browned, return what you cooked in the beginning to the pan.
- Season with salt and pepper, cover and simmer for another 5-7 minutes. until ready.
If desired, at the end of frying, you can add finely chopped herbs and garlic to the dish, this will make it even more aromatic.
Collect royal mushrooms only if you are experienced mushroom picker. This mushroom is easily confused with fly agaric, so there is a risk of serious poisoning.
