Before squeezing burdock leaf juice, consider how to store it. There are several ways to extend the shelf life of a medicinal product without losing its antiseptic and anti-inflammatory properties.
How to store freshly made burdock leaf juice?
Burdock juice is an affordable product that is used as a standalone product or is used to prepare effective medicinal products. Freshly squeezed juice can be stored in the refrigerator for no more than three days.
Stages of preparing a healing drink:
- rinse the leaves of the plant, dry and grind in a meat grinder;
- squeeze the resulting mass thoroughly;
- Pour the liquid into a prepared container and put it in the refrigerator on the lower shelf.
This option is suitable for those who take the fresh remedy.
How long can canned burdock juice be stored?
To extend the shelf life of the homemade medicine, alcohol is used as a preservative. Alcohol or vodka is suitable for this:
- Tincture for oral administration. Burdock juice is diluted with vodka 1: 1 and left to infuse for a week. The finished product is stored in a cool dark place. Healing qualities persist throughout the year.
- Mixture for external use. Pour crushed burdock leaves with alcohol – 1: 1 and place in a container with a tight-fitting lid. The product can be stored for up to eight months in the refrigerator.
The second recipe has many medicinal properties and is suitable for combating acne, weakening hair and cellulite – it is used for wrapping.
How to store burdock juice with honey?
Liquid honey can also be used as a preservative. To do this, the liquid expressed from the crushed burdock is mixed with honey 1: 1 and placed in a jar with a twist. The resulting mixture can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 12 months.
Advice: to achieve the maximum shelf life of the remedy, you need to mix 150 g of honey, 150 ml of alcohol and 0,5 l of burdock juice. Store liquid in a cool, dark place.
You can prepare a medicinal composition from burdock leaf juice at home. To increase the shelf life, available preservatives are used: honey or alcohol. Such drugs retain their properties for several months. The compositions are used for medical or cosmetic purposes.
