What tricks do marketers go to in their desires to sell more goods. However, the experience of the Swedish convenience store chain Pressbyran seems to surpass all the most outlandish advertising media. The fact is that the ad for cinnamon rolls on this network was placed right in front of the sellers. And this is in the truest sense of the word.
In October, Sweden traditionally celebrates Cinnamon Roll Day, which is a national sweet. On this day, the competition between sellers seeking to sell as many delicious treats as possible is simply enormous. To attract consumers, Pressbyran, in collaboration with advertising agency Akestam Holst, came up with an interesting way to convince customers to buy cinnamon buns from them – during the holiday season, store employees wore special contact lenses that featured a cinnamon bun and a price tag.
The Pressbyran network assures that sellers had a choice whether to wear lenses or not, but all employees reacted positively to the unusual promotion. On Cinnamon Roll Day, vendors donned lenses at 300 Pressbyran stores across Sweden.
The promotion was accompanied by an ad in which a customer decided to add two cinnamon rolls to her purchases at the checkout after seeing an image of sweets in the seller’s lenses.
