Built-in and non-built-in dishwashers – which is better

Buying a dishwasher is a big step. It is especially difficult for a potential buyer to decide which one he needs – a built-in dishwasher or a non-built-in one. Or maybe you should pay attention to partially built-in models? We will examine the differences between these three types of PMM in the review. Let’s compare all the machines by type of embedding and make a rating of models from leading brands.

Fully built-in PMM: differences

A fully built-in machine requires installation in a kitchen set. From above, it is covered with a tabletop, and the door is hidden behind a facade made in the same texture and color scheme as the furniture. With the door closed, there will not even be a hint that there is a dishwasher in your kitchen – this is the main difference between a built-in machine and a freestanding one.

Dishwashers are distinguished by such positive points:

  • maintain the integrity of the design solution in the room;
  • protected from being pressed by children;
  • they work quieter in comparison with a separate PMM, judging by user reviews.

The only drawback of full-fledged embedding technology is that it must be installed in a niche – it cannot be placed separately, since there are no decorative panels on it. If you do not hang a facade on it, there may be problems with opening or closing the door.

On a note! With similar declared characteristics, fully built-in machines are somewhat more expensive than other models (even within the same brand).

Typically, the dimensions of fully built-in machines are as follows (ratio of width, depth and height):

  • 55x45x59 cm – compact models that can accommodate up to 6 sets of dishes;
  • 45x60x82 cm – narrow cars with a volume of up to 11 sets;
  • 60x60x82 cm – full-size PMM, wash up to 17 sets per cycle.

Complete type of protection against leakage is provided. Noise does not exceed 48 dB. Width 60 cm, depth 55 cm, height 82 cm.

Bosch SPV 53M 20RU

Another owner of the classic German Bosch assembly. Holds up to 9 crockery sets. It also has 5 wash cycles and provides a full type of leakage protection. You can find out about the end of the mode with a convenient beam function on the floor. Low noise, noted at a level of only 46 dB, will allow you to comfortably use the equipment in the dark. This is a narrow dishwasher: 45 cm wide, 57 cm deep and 82 cm high, respectively.

The cost is from 29 rubles.

Flavia CI 55 HAVANA

open panel machines

A partially built-in dishwasher differs from the previous one in that its user unit with buttons and a conventional or touch display is placed outside the built-in housing and is located on the door. Under it is the front part of the headset or a decorative factory panel. An option for those who are not going to hide stylish and ergonomic household appliances behind a furniture facade.

On a note! There are such PMM, which can also be partially built in due to the removable top cover. By removing the panel, you can cover the machine with a countertop, imitate embedding.

Like fully built-in dishwashers, semi-built-in dishwashers are available in compact, narrow and full-size cabinets.

Consider the following models as an example:

Siemens SN 578S00 TR

Floor-mounted dishwasher 60 cm wide, with the possibility of partial integration into the set. Designed for 14 crockery sets. All classes are higher: A (washing, drying, energy efficiency). There is a display and protection from children. Low noise level of 42 dB makes operation easier. Programs: 8, temperature modes: 6.

The cost is from 82 rubles.

Smeg PLA4525X

Narrow model, assembled in Italy, with a capacity of up to 10 sets. Of the 9 programs, the rarest and most useful mode is washing fragile dishes (delicate wash). Noise level is only 44 dB. Of the minuses: partial type of protection against leakage.

The cost is about 60 rubles.

Bosch SKE52M55RU

Small-sized model with a capacity for 6 sets of dishes and a water consumption of 7 liters. 5 programs are provided. Delayed start, protection against accidental pressing, a sound signal at the end of the cycle – an incomplete list of all the advantages of the model. Noise in the permissible norm – 45 dB.

The cost is from 43 to 000 rubles.

Non-embedded PMM

Non-built-in machine – what does it mean? A more familiar name for such a dishwasher is freestanding. The main difference, thanks to which it is easy to compare with other machines, is a large choice of location, which is especially convenient when connected to communications. On the side and from the side of the facade, such cars are covered with decorative panels. Outwardly, they resemble vertical washing machines.

The technical parameters of free-standing PMM are not inferior to built-in options, especially for full-size models. The main thing that buyers are guided by when choosing such a PMM is its appearance, aesthetics, and ergonomics. A freestanding dishwasher will fit especially well into the interior of a large kitchen if it is installed outside the kitchen unit.

Important! Models that do not provide for the embedding function have a fairly rich color gamut. Everyone will find an exclusive option for their design.

Like everyone else, non-built-in dishwashers are produced in three types of housing: narrow, full-sized and compact (for a small kitchen). You can also divide them according to the principle of installation: floor and desktop.

Electrolux ESF 2200 DW

Desktop PMM with a capacity of 6 sets. Classes of energy efficiency and washing A, drying – B (condensation type). From the functionality: 6 programs, delayed start timer, indicators of salt and rinse aid, “Soaking” mode.

The cost is up to 20 rubles.

Hansa ZWM 416 WH

Narrow freestanding dishwasher. Capacity – 9 sets. Sufficiently high energy class A ++, electricity consumption 0,69 kW / h. Noise above average – 49 dB. Pros: 6 different programs, full type of leakage protection. Cons: lack of a turbidity sensor and auto-setting of water hardness.

The average cost is 17 rubles.

Bosch SMS 40D02

Full-sized model for 12 sets, with 4 washing modes and a full type of protection against leakage. At the same time, there is no blocking from accidental pressing (parental control). Noise – 48 dB. The color of the facade and body is white. Dimensions: 60x60x85 cm (WxDxH).

The average market price is 26 rubles.

To determine which is better – a narrow, compact or full-sized machine, it is worth comparing the built-in and non-built-in PMMs first. We did it, now you know all their pros and cons, features of choice, examples from the lineup of leading brands. Decide: will you decorate the kitchen with new appliances, or will you not violate the ideological range of the kitchen space. Happy shopping!
