They say that with the help of facial massage with the mysterious name “buccal” you can look ten years younger. We propose to find out how the rumors correspond to reality, and to study the issue closely.
What is buccal facial massage
The meaning of buccal massage is to intensively work out the facial and masticatory muscles of the face with a bilateral grip (from the inside and outside), and the purpose of the manipulations is to return the muscles to their original length, tone and elasticity. The beautician, using a special technique, kneads, stretches each muscle and moves tissues, literally “puts the face in place”, which is why buccal massage is also called (and not in vain) non-surgical lifting.
This miracle method has gained popularity with screen stars and celebrities on both sides of the ocean. Our cosmetologists also practice it – the author Joelle Siocco personally conducted a training in Russia.
Indications and contraindications
Massage is primarily addressed to those who have already shown age-related changes associated with ptosis (sagging tissues and a decrease in their elasticity):
fuzzy oval of the face;
wrinkles around the mouth;
sagging cheeks;
nasolabial folds;
flew;
puppet wrinkles;
drooping corners of the lips.
Buccal massage is done with a bilateral grip.
Like any massage, buccal massage has a number of contraindications:
inflammation on the skin of the face;
herpes in the acute stage;
infectious diseases;
diseases of the thyroid gland.
What gives buccal massage: the effect of the procedure
Buccal massage gives a great effect, and the difference between “before” and “after” will be noticeable from the first time, since the muscles (with the right impact) immediately respond to deep manipulations. The face even has a forgotten “young” expression, and at the end of the course, which usually consists of 5-10 sessions, you can observe a lot of positive changes:
small wrinkles disappear, and pronounced ones become less deep;
nasolabial folds are softened;
fleas disappear;
the oval of the face becomes clearer;
the corners of the lips are lifted;
pastosity decreases;
return the volume and fullness of the lips;
the volume of the cheeks, caused by swelling of the tissues, decreases;
increase elasticity, smoothness, radiance of the skin.
Types of buccal massage
The classic massage by Joel Siocco belongs to the category of sculptural (or sculpting) massage, during which a kind of face modeling takes place, and the beautician takes on the role of a sculptor. Over time, other varieties of buccal massage appeared, but their novelty is very conditional, just cosmetologists have learned to successfully combine other effective massage techniques with buccal massage.
Sculpture-buccal massage
The technique consists of two stages – sculptural massage (working out the muscles with certain movements along the massage lines) and the actual buccal massage.
Buccal plastic massage
Another combination of two methods: external intensive impact on muscles with interoral.
Buccal topological massage
Preparing for a massage
In addition to the standard rule – thoroughly clean the face before manipulation, buccal massage is not recommended to be performed on a full stomach. You need to mentally prepare for the procedure, calm down, so that during the session the face is completely relaxed. It may not feel very comfortable.
Any interoral massage, including buccal, is carried out only with disposable gloves.
How buccal facial massage is done: execution technique
We note right away that buccal massage is a professional author’s technique. To fulfill all the prescriptions of the patented protocol on your own, without special training and education, is a utopia. But it is not forbidden to include some of its elements in your own home practice of self-massage and exercises. The main thing is to prevent severe pain, and even more so – the formation of bruises and bruises. So how is buccal massage done?
Buccal massage is performed only in disposable seals.
Warm-up
In the classic version, the décolleté area, the lateral parts of the neck, and the submandibular lymph nodes are first massaged to activate the lymph flow.
Then the muscles of the face need to be relaxed and slightly toned to prepare them for a deeper impact. Manipulations are performed from the center of the face to the periphery, starting from the chin and ending with the upper part of the cheeks, several times. They include:
smoothing movements;
tapping;
pinching and vibration.
Massage
Direct interoral muscle massage begins with the circular muscle of the mouth.
Working out the circular muscle of the mouth carried out in a circular motion with the index fingers, with an emphasis on the thumbs, which are in the mouth, under the lip. With self-massage, you can make the thumb work and work out the left and right sides separately, with one hand. The point is to quickly but meticulously massage every millimeter, kneading hard areas and activating sluggish ones. Such a massage promotes blood flow and saturates the tissues with oxygen, as if reviving them. The final technique is the alternate pulling of the lower lip on the upper one towards the nose and relaxation: they pulled it, lingered, and released it. Important: do not strain your chin, your face should be relaxed.
Working out the nasolabial fold, starting from the top edge with the thumb from the inside: the same circular movements are performed, then the processed segment is slightly stretched first down, and then towards the cheekbone, as if you want to straighten the muscle and move it up, setting the tension vector.
Cheek work carried out according to the above scheme (2), with the obligatory stretching of the muscle towards the cheekbone.
Repeat paragraphs 2 and 3 on the other side of the face.
Complete the massage pleasant stroking movements. Try to completely relax your face.
