🙂 Dear readers, I welcome you to the pages of the site! “Brothers” is a funny incident that Natalia will remember for her entire life. It was in the 90s. Difficult times: economic crisis, perestroika. Often the salary was not paid for months. People survived as best they could.
A curious incident from life
Once Natalya persuaded her friend to go with her to the railway station – to sell vegetables grown in the garden – then it was in the order of things. Residents of neighboring villages traveled to the city, where they sold vegetables and fruits to passengers of passing trains.
The girls picked up a few buckets of vegetables and took the bus to the station. Climbed to the platform, stand, wait. The train arrived, but for some reason no one got out on the platform. Moreover, all the experienced traders fled somewhere.
Natalya, not understanding what the matter was, was delighted – there are fewer traders, less competition. Grabbing a bucket of cucumbers and tomatoes, she headed for the nearest carriage. I did not want to wait for the next train, and it is not known whether there will be one.
Strange passengers
Natasha entered the carriage. Several men in military uniforms and with rifles at the ready were standing in the vestibule. Looking at the slender girl, they grinned maliciously. Laughing, the men suggested that Natalya go into the carriage, but one of them said a strange phrase:
– You just be more careful there, if anything, quickly get out of there.
The naive girl, due to her inexperience, did not understand his advice. She came in, looked – some men were sitting, moreover, they looked somehow strange and were not dressed at all for the weather. Ignoring this, she turned to the passengers:
– Gentlemen, buy fresh vegetables, homemade tomatoes, cucumbers!
Suddenly, from the middle of the carriage, a huge bull of the most sinister appearance, covered from head to foot with tattoos, comes at her. He came closer and as he barked:
– What kind of gentlemen are we to you! Now you won’t be good at it!
Girl’s resourcefulness
Swearing and laughter rolled through the car. Everyone who was sitting jumped up from their seats. What to do, what to do? Natalya, who did not expect such a turn of events, stood rooted to the spot, unable to move.
But her lively character helped out. Natasha did not rush to the exit, as many would probably do, but said:
– Brothers, take fresh tomatoes, cucumbers! You have probably not seen them for a hundred years.
The passengers of the train smiled – you see, they were glad that they were called brothers. They have not heard normal treatment, and even more so from a woman, for several years. As it turned out later, dashing guys, criminals, were traveling in that carriage.
They were taken from the camp to some construction site. Violators of the law were not allowed out of the train. And since at the construction site there is a milder regime than in the camp, the convicts behaved quieter than water, lower than the grass. And then suddenly – a beautiful girl showed up! And with a bucket full of fresh vegetables they haven’t seen in years!
True, it is not clear how the guards let Natalia into the carriage. After all, her friend was not even allowed to step on the step. Maybe the guards got bored, and they decided to laugh, watching how the convicts intimidate the girl? Still, I want to believe that they would not have allowed violence …
The huge man who scared Natalya smiled at her with his toothless mouth and said:
– Nobody called us that for a long time, brothers. Thank you little sister.
He took a bucket of vegetables and walked along the carriage:
– Come on, we buy tomatoes, cucumbers, we do not spare money for such a beautiful girl!
The bucket was empty in an instant. Ambal handed Natalya crumpled bills (the money turned out to be much more than it was possible to bail out from ordinary train passengers). On wadded feet, the girl got out of the carriage. The train started moving. The zeks looked at the girl through the window and waved goodbye to her.
