bridal makeup tips from stylist Alex Wernik

– As a professional, I do not approve of the idea that any girl can do her own wedding makeup. Looking through your pictures and wedding videos, you can bitterly regret saving on the services of a good makeup artist.

There are two trends in makeup: fashion makeup, which looks very impressive on the catwalk, but close up the groom can be scared of him, and natural makeup for every day, which, if applied ineptly, can make the bride in the photo completely faceless and “blind”. At a wedding, it is important to solve all problems at the same time: make-up should look beautiful both up close and from afar, and in natural light on the street, and in bright electric light in a restaurant, and when photographing, and when filming. And stay firm so you don’t have to correct it every two hours.

The most common mistake I see in wedding photos is the overall ill-conceived look. In a year, girls begin to think about the ceremony, choose a dress and a restaurant, and leave their hair and makeup to the last moment. Then random people come: the hairdresser, without seeing the dress, does his hair, the make-up artist paints as the bride herself asks for, and in the end it turns out that the dress is from one opera, the styling is from another, the visage is from the third.

Now the main fashion trend is naturalness, but you should not blindly follow it in your wedding visage. The make-up should match the dress chosen by the bride: if it is a luxurious elegant outfit, then with natural makeup the girl will simply be lost, she will not be visible because of the dress. If the dress is in the style of a princess, then the makeup should be bright, a little fabulous. False eyelashes, beautiful shading are appropriate here. If the dress is modest and romantic, then natural makeup will do. Well, for a glamorous fashion look, makeup should look like a catwalk.

Ideally, when preparing for the wedding, you should do this: get to know the stylist in advance, talk to him. If trust arises, you can discuss in detail the whole image – dress, bouquet, hairstyle and makeup. The style should be based on the originality of the bride herself, her character, lifestyle, their romantic relationship with the groom.

If the makeup is done by a professional, you won’t need a cosmetic bag on your wedding day at all. But just in case of emergency, I would recommend taking matting wipes with you to the celebration to get your face wet, mineral powder, if you need to remove unnecessary gloss, also lip gloss or long-lasting lipstick.
