Brevoxyl – acne cream. How to use?

Brevoxyl (benzoyl peroxide) is an anti-acne preparation for use on the skin. The cream is recommended for the treatment of moderate acne vulgaris.

Brevoxyl indications for use

The preparation is indicated for the treatment of moderate acne vulgaris, especially its comedic and maculopapular forms.

Brevoxyl and contraindications

Contraindications to the use of the cream are:

  1. allergy to any ingredient of the preparation,
  2. should not be used in women in the last month of pregnancy.

Dosage

The preparation is a cream for topical application to the skin. The improvement usually occurs after 4-6 weeks of using the preparation. However, longer use of the preparation may be necessary.

  1. Adults and adolescents: use 1-2 times a day; after washing and drying the acne skin, apply a small amount of the cream and gently spread it over the entire affected area. The preparation should not be applied to single lesions, but to the entire surface of the skin affected by acne. Wash your hands after each use.

Brevoxyl – warnings

  1. Brevoxyl is a medicine intended for external use on the skin only.
  2. Protect your mouth, eyes and mucous membranes from contact with the preparation.
  3. Caution should be exercised when the drug is used on sensitive skin, e.g. the neck.
  4. During treatment with the preparation, exposure to UV radiation (including quartz lamps, solariums and sun rays) should be avoided.
  5. Skin irritation may occur when using other exfoliating preparations at the same time.
  6. Redness and peeling of the skin may occur at the beginning of treatment.
  7. Due to the whitening effect of benzoyl peroxide, avoid using the cream around the eyebrows, chin and hair, and avoid contact with clothing. The drug may discolor your hair and fabrics.
  8. There is no information on the effect of the preparation on the ability to drive and use machines.

Other Medicines and Brevoxyl

Inform your doctor about the use of:

  1. all medications, even those sold without a prescription,
  2. other anti-acne medicines containing vitamin A (e.g. tretinoin, isotretinoin).

Side effects of the preparation

During the use of Brevoxyl, the following may occur:

  1. excessive peeling of the skin,
  2. slight redness
  3. moderate stinging / burning at the application site.
