In the first month of a child’s life, a nursing mother should be attentive to her diet. By choosing the right food, you can help the baby’s body to quickly grow stronger and develop. During this period, both the menu and the mode of food intake are important.
Breastfeeding the first month
All healthy mothers, regardless of the size and shape of their breasts, are advised to feed their newborns with breast milk. No mixture will replace the product produced by the female body for the baby she is born with.
There is no need to stick to a diet. The nutrition of a nursing mother should be about the same as during pregnancy. You should exclude foods that cause allergies and give preference to simple healthy foods that allow the baby to grow and the mother to replenish the energy spent on milk production.
The mother’s diet should contain the whole set of useful elements. This is:
- Fats. Preference should be given to vegetable fats, such as olive oil, which is used in salads. Sour cream and butter will be helpful.
- Vitamin C. The main suppliers of this element will be tomatoes, spinach, cabbage and kiwi.
- Iron supplied to the body by eating dried fruits, buckwheat and oatmeal, apples.
- Proteins. The most useful will be eggs, meat and fish products.
- Calcium found in herbs, cheese and cottage cheese.
It is important to prepare food properly. It is best to cook it without overcooking, or simmer. Mom must remember that in the first month of a baby’s life, his nutritional culture begins to form. From what the baby eats, his diet in the future depends.
You need to drink about 3 liters of liquid per day.
In infants, children are especially prone to allergies. It is advisable to exclude foods that cause allergic reactions from the diet. These include:
- Strawberry,
- honey,
- seafood,
- citrus,
- chocolate.
If you cannot do without, for example, oranges or chocolate, you should check whether the baby reacts to them. To do this, eat a small amount and wait for the reaction. If there are no changes in the child’s stool and a rash does not appear, you can continue to eat your favorite food. The main thing is not to abuse it.
Breastfeeding mothers need to maintain lactation. This will help nettle, fennel, anise, cumin and other herbs. A woman should remember about responsibility for the physical and psychological state of the baby, which is also influenced by nutrition.
