The French design team Duende has created an entire collection of jewelry from breast milk. It will include necklaces, bracelets and other accessories. They call their work “perle de lait”, which means “milk pearls”.
The technology is as follows: milk is boiled with vinegar, after which it becomes very plastic. It can be given any shape and colored at will.
The technology for making jewelry from milk is a new invention, it has not yet been used commercially. But the Duende team is confident that soon any mother will be able to receive jewelry from her own milk in memory of her pregnancy.
An exhibition of milk jewelry will take place in September in one of the cities in the south of France.
