Breastfeeding can become very tiring for a young mother if she chooses the wrong position. This is especially true when the baby is eating slowly, and the process is delayed for 1–2 hours. So that your chest does not grow numb, your back does not hurt and your hands do not get tired, you just need to find a suitable position for feeding.

Classic breastfeeding postures
Most often, young mothers choose a “cradle” for feeding. They take the baby with both hands, put his head on the elbow and apply it to the chest. This position is comfortable, but only for not too long feeding. If your breasts are numb and your arms are very tired, use a simple remedy: take three pillows and place one under your back, one under your head, and one on your knees to keep your baby easier.
When feeding, don’t be afraid to change positions, especially if the process takes a long time. This will help you avoid painful sensations and extreme fatigue.
If you need not only to feed the baby, but also to help him fall asleep faster, put his head on the bend of the elbow, comfortably holding the body with your other hand, give the breast, and then begin to shake it a little. At the same time, as a rule, mothers do not sit in an armchair, but walk around the room. When a child does not fall asleep for a long time, the woman feels tired, back pain, numbness in the chest area, excessive tension in the arms. To avoid this problem, use a sling while feeding. This will help distribute the load evenly. It is also recommended to give the baby another breast at the first sign of numbness.
Comfortable Newborn Feeding Positions
If the baby is already breastfeeding well, try sitting him on your lap and then leaning forward to feed. In this position, the baby can hold the breast himself as it is convenient for him, and even slightly squeeze or knead it with his handles. Thanks to this, it is possible to avoid the appearance of unpleasant sensations. In particular, if your breasts are still numb in classic poses, this option can solve the problem.
Please note that this “active position” is not suitable for children who tend to be easily distracted. The fact is that it provides a good view, and the baby begins to pay too much attention to surrounding objects.
Unfortunately, sometimes breastfeeding numbness and pain is not the only problem. Women who have had a difficult pregnancy, caesarean section, or crotch cutting and stitching simply cannot strain. In such cases, the best option is to lie on your side, place a pillow with your shoulders underneath, and then breastfeed the baby. If you notice that the body begins to grow numb, immediately roll over to the other side and give the baby a second nipple.
