Breast asymmetry: causes and features
Breast asymmetry is quite common. This diagnosis can appear as a consequence of poor posture, and for a reason directly related to problems after the installation of the implant. The plastic surgeon told Wday everything there is to know about it.
Causes of Goody Asymmetry
Every woman, turning to a plastic surgeon for help, dreams of one thing – to get perfect shapes. One of the most frequent complaints after the intervention is that the patient’s nipple-areola complex has a noticeable error.
The reason for this phenomenon lies not in the lack of professionalism of the surgeon, but in banal scoliosis. It is he who is the root cause of breast asymmetry. Even a slight deviation from the norm, which the patient may not be aware of, after the installation of implants is not leveled, but, on the contrary, is emphasized and becomes more pronounced.
According to statistics, today scoliosis is one of the most common disorders of the spine, which affects both children and adults. A sedentary lifestyle, a weak muscle corset, lack of physical activity, heredity – these are the factors that do not in the best way affect the state of the spinal column, causing a turn in one direction or another.
There is evidence that most women experience breast asymmetry to some extent – in simple terms, one breast is larger than the other. This is because adolescent girls are much more at risk of developing idiopathic (acquired) scoliosis than their male peers.
As for breast asymmetry after mammoplasty, for example, it can be caused by reversal of the anatomical implant… There is always a risk of implant rotation. But when you have a round implant installed, its overturn is in most cases imperceptible, so the patient does not experience discomfort. A pronounced reversal of the anatomical implant can cause a noticeable deformation of the breast. Despite the fact that in general this situation is not pathological, it is indeed unpleasant in terms of aesthetics. And it can cause breast correction.
Another reason for breast asymmetry can be a complication after mammoplasty – capsular contracture. This complication can develop due to a violation of the integrity of the shell of the silicone implant, for example, due to wear and tear of the contents, which ultimately leads to an inflammatory process. Quite a lot of women faced such a problem, who installed silicone endoprostheses 10-12 years ago. Despite the fact that the manufacturing company gave a lifetime warranty for these implants, over time it became clear that they are still not eternal.
The problem can be solved by removing the leaking implant and re-endorotheising the breast using modern highly cohesive polyurethane foam implants. These implants have been tested for durability and meet all quality standards.
How to prevent breast asymmetry?
That is why it is so important to monitor your posture at any age in order to prevent the situation from getting worse. Walking, running, stretching, yoga, swimming – this is the required minimum load to maintain your spine. Great results can be achieved by doing planks in the morning and practicing proper breathing.
For serious violations, do not refuse to wear orthopedic insoles, whose task is to prevent further curvature of the spine due to the difference in the length of the legs. This is the most common problem that can be encountered with scoliosis. The insoles bring the waist and hips back into place.
Standing in front of a mirror, pay attention to the fact that one shoulder is not higher than the other: this is also a sign of scoliosis. Try to keep your back straight and follow the line of your shoulders.
As for plastic surgery, in some cases it is possible to smooth out the manifestations of scoliosis and the deformity of the chest caused by it with the help of selection of implants, lipofilling и manipulations with the nipple-areola zone.
In order to avoid overturning the anatomical implant after mammoplasty, you can initially rely on round implants or choose anatomical implants with a textured surface… Although they are difficult to install, since they instantly grow to the tissues of the mammary gland, the risk of rotation is practically reduced to zero. With them you can actively go in for sports, parachute jumping, diving, etc.
