Barbecue in the country is not uncommon. A well-designed brazier will allow not only to cook meat, but also serve as a convenient stove for heating a pot or kettle. You can build a suitable design from improvised materials. From the article you will learn how to make a brazier from car disks.
What discs are suitable
In our automotive age, this used material is more than enough. Thanks to the shape of the discs, the brazier is easy to design, adding at the same time a barbecue oven for installing a cauldron. However, not all rims are suitable. Experienced craftsmen advise getting stamped parts from a Zhiguli car. However, you can get by with any old car wheel, the main thing is that it is not aluminum, but must be made of solid steel. Those, if necessary, can be bought cheaply at the nearest tire service.

Design advantages and disadvantages
Metal wear does not play a special role. When creating a brazier, the thickness of the walls of the brazier is primarily important. The advantage of choosing rims is also their compact shape, the ability to cook on coals and wood, and the fact that the material does not burn out or deform when heated.
The most convenient design of the brazier from such a base involves the creation of a multifunctional oven with your own hands, which includes:
- a grill that allows cooking on skewers or a grill;
- barbecue to fry steaks, covering the brazier with a lid and organizing an oven;
- surface for cooking, since the diameter of the disc is sufficient to install a frying pan, pot, cauldron, etc. on the stand;
- a smokehouse, because for giving the possibility of hot smoking is a very useful feature.
The device will work according to a clear principle. Fuel is placed in the lower compartment, a grate for grilling and dishes is installed on top. Removing the grate, we get a brazier for barbecue.
True, this design has certain disadvantages:
- Small height. When cooking, you have to bend over or sit on a low stool. However, this drawback can be avoided by providing the device with metal legs.
- Low thrust, which is a consequence of the small size. If not taken care of, the fire can simply go out.
- Insufficient furnace size. You have to put firewood or coals all the time as they burn out.
Assembly technology
For mounting the structure, in addition to the disks themselves (requires two pieces of the same size), you will need special tools and additional materials:
- 3 bolts with nuts;
- 4 nuts with a diameter of 1 cm;
- meter professional pipe made of metal;
- metal sheet or meter of wire 8 mm thick;
- Bulgarian;
- welder.
The installation technology is carried out in several stages:
- One of the discs is completely removed partition. This is done as follows: notches are applied with a grinder, after which they break through the metal with a hammer. Another way is to cut the partition with a gas cutter.
- Both disks are welded together. The partition remaining at the second disk will serve as the bottom of the entire structure.
A door is made for the brazier. To this end:
- a rectangle is drawn in such a way that the welding seam connecting the disks passes in the middle, and the lower part lags behind the bottom by several centimeters;
- cut out a rectangle with a grinder;
- edges are polished, deburred;
- on the right (short) side of the door, two nuts are welded on opposite sides of the weld, and symmetrically;
- bolts are welded to the brazier body in such a way as to put the door nuts on them (the bolts should first be screwed into the welded nuts, then attach the door to the body and weld the bolts themselves in this position);
- on the opposite side of the door in the middle of the seam, a hole is made and a bolt is screwed in, fixing it with a nut – you get a kind of handle.
Now you need to weld a metal sheet to the bottom, otherwise the coals will fall out of the furnace. Holes should remain in the sheet to enhance traction. Instead of a sheet, a lattice is sometimes mounted, having built it from thick wire.
The next step is welding the legs. Three blanks of 80-90 cm are cut out of the profile pipe, which are welded in the form of a tripod to the bottom of the inverted brazier.
To make it easy to move the structure, it is equipped with handles. To do this, on both sides at the desired height, they attach by welding a pair of nuts through which a curved wire is threaded.
The device is ready. For its beauty it is desirable:
- ignite on fire;
- paint with black heat-resistant paint.
Other oven options
To get a smokehouse, the brazier is equipped with a lid and a smoke exhaust system. The previously cut partition with holes is not thrown away, it is just easy to make a lid out of it, and besides, it will serve as a hob.
There are also simpler barbecue options. For example, you can build a simple grill from just one disc, providing it with legs.
