Branch pipes in the washing machine – how to clean and change

The owners of modern automatic washing machines know that during the operation of the machine it is necessary to clean the working systems. But few people know that pipes also require care and cleaning.

Attention! Do not confuse concepts. The hoses are located outside the SM, the branch pipes are inside.

Owners often find out that there are branch pipes in the SMA even when they begin to leak. You should not bring the equipment to such a state, so take note of our tips for repairing and replacing nozzles.

But first, it’s worth figuring out what nozzles for washing machines exist.

Types of pipes and their localization

If you have a modern SMA (regardless of which brand you prefer), it can have three types of nozzles:

  1. jellied;
  2. drain;
  3. dispenser tube.

All these pipes work smoothly, water follows from one to another. How – let’s figure it out further:

  1. The inlet connection connects the intake valve and the dispenser of the washing machine. Water passes through it quickly and goes to the powder receiver, where it dissolves it.
  2. Next, the mixture of water with powder goes to the dispenser tube connecting the powder receiver and the tank. From the pipe, water is transferred to the tank.
  3. Next, the wash continues on the mode you have chosen. When it becomes necessary to drain the waste water, the drainage pump starts. It pumps water from the tank to the drain pipe. Bypassing the entire drain system, the waste water goes into the sewer pipe.

It turns out that any of the three listed elements runs the risk of failing ahead of time – due to scale, blockage or damage.

Important! In new machines, the nozzles are strong and elastic, but during operation they harden and are prone to cracks, so they can leak.

It is also sad that plaque from low-quality powders can collect and petrify in the dispenser tube. But the most vulnerable is the drain pipe of the washing machine. This is because it is through it that already waste water is drained, containing everything that has fallen out of pockets or come off your clothes:

  • buttons and cufflinks;
  • pins and hairpins;
  • coins;
  • “bones” of bras;
  • toothpicks and so on.

Therefore, if the machine starts to leak, first of all you need to think about the integrity of the water drain pipe. Next, we will tell you how to clean and replace the nozzles.

Preparation for repair

To clean, repair or replace the nozzle in the washing machine, the body of the machine will have to be disassembled. Proceed like this:

  • Block access to communications.
  • Remove hoses.
  • Cover the floor with a rag.
  • Remove the powder cuvette.

  • Using a small hose in the service hatch, drain the remaining washing water into the basin (located in the same hatch as the filter).
  • Unscrew the drain filter.

Important! Having reached the “garbage” filter, take the opportunity to clean it.

  • Move the machine to the place where you laid the rag.
  • Tilt and place the SMA on its side.

These actions are carried out solely in order to work with the machine was safe and convenient. And the water is drained in order not to flood the electronic board and not damage it.

Now it’s up to the tool: you will need to find a plus screwdriver and pliers to do the repair.

Filler pipe repair

To make sure that the part is in working order, you need to find it. It will be most convenient to inspect the tube by unscrewing the top cover of the CM. On the left in the corner, you should immediately notice the tube connecting the water intake valve to the powder receiver – you have found what you were looking for. The element on both sides is intercepted by fasteners – clamps.

To verify the integrity of the pipe, remove it, proceeding as follows:

  1. Armed with pliers, open the clamps and slide them to the center of the part. Handle them with care – they will come in handy for installing the part in place.Branch pipes in the washing machine - how to clean and change
  2. With a little effort, but gently pull off the pipe – first from the valve, then from the cuvette outlet.
  3. Check for blockages. If there is, take a bottle brush, it will easily eliminate them. If everything is in order, rinse with running water and put back in place.
  4. Found defects? Purchase a new filler pipe for your make and model of washing machine. Use the clamps to secure the tube in place.

Attention! If everything is intact, but the tube is “oak” to the touch and does not bend, then it is better to change the part.

Dispenser nozzle repair

This part of the washing machine also needs attention. And since you decided to refuse the help of the master, it means that you yourself will have to look for, clean or change the part.

In many brands, such as Algy, it can be removed, like the previous one – by removing just the top cover. But sometimes getting there is difficult – you have to disassemble the front panel.

Removing the front panel

After removing the front cover, start removing the front panel as follows:

  1. Remove the detergent dispenser. In many brands, it is easily accessible at the push of a button.
  2. Then unscrew the fasteners holding the display panel.Branch pipes in the washing machine - how to clean and change
  3. Remove and place it on top of the machine, but so that it does not interfere. If your model has a service hook, hang the panel. You can also make a hook yourself.
  4. Remove the bottom panel by unscrewing the fasteners.Branch pipes in the washing machine - how to clean and change
  5. Next, you need to disconnect the rubber seal of the hatch. Pry off the wire tie with the thinnest screwdriver you have in your arsenal of tools. Some clamps are removed with round-nose or pliers.
  6. After removing the clamp, you can remove the cuff.Branch pipes in the washing machine - how to clean and change
  7. Then unscrew the 2 fasteners holding the blocker.
  8. Now you can detach the front panel from the SM body.

To remove the dispenser tube, proceed as follows:

  1. Get rid of the fasteners on which the pipe is held on both sides.
  2. Disconnect both ends.
  3. Check the tube for blockage. If you find a blockage, remove it.
  4. Check for damage. You will have to buy an original part if the old one has defects.

In theory, everything seems simple. But in reality, it is not always so easy to get to the screws that hold the clamps. Moreover, on most machines there is a filter mesh.

Be careful! When dismantling, be careful not to lose the inlet filter. If the mesh popped out – put it back in place. Without it, a lot of garbage will get into the machine.

Cleaning the drain system

The drain pipe for the washing machine is most often bought in stores, because it wears out one of the very first.

To make repairs with your own hands, you need to get the pipe, and this is best done from the bottom. If the bottom is not covered by anything, then the part will stick out – it will be enough just to put the machine on the side. And if the bottom is covered with a lid, then unscrew it, and again you will immediately see what you were looking for.

This tube has not two, but three connections:

  1. with tank;
  2. with drainage pump;
  3. with pressure hose.

All you need to do is loosen the clamps in all three places, then yank the part out of the way. If everything is safe and sound, then clean the part with a brush, and then install it back. If you find cracks and even holes, you need a replacement.

Don’t know how to change the nozzle? It’s simple: buy a new one, install it in place, clamp it with clamps.

Important! It does not hurt to carry out a cleansing procedure in a solution of citric acid. Mix 100 g of product with two liters of water. Dip the part in the resulting solution for a couple of hours. Take it out, rinse it under the tap.

Remember that your washing machine needs care. Of course, the master will clean and repair everything faster and more professionally. But often this is an expensive pleasure. Therefore, we hope that this article will help you do everything yourself.

The main thing is to strictly follow all our recommendations. And remember: the cleaner and softer the water enters the machine, the cleaner (without garbage and small things in your pockets) you load the laundry, the longer the nozzles will not need to be repaired.
