Against split ends
Coconut oil gives a great effect if used for split ends. “Warm up the oil in your hands and apply it to wet tips,” advises dermatologist, trichologist Maria Nevskaya. “Then just let them dry or, if you’re in a hurry, dry them with a hair dryer.”
For moisturizing
To restore dyed hair
This ritual can be performed once a week. Wash your hair with shampoo, towel dry it and apply coconut oil all over. Cover your hair with plastic wrap or a shower cap and heat with a hair dryer for 2-3 minutes. How long to keep coconut oil on your hair depends on the length of your hair. If the hair is short, then 5 minutes. Medium – about 10 minutes. Long – 15. Then the coconut mask is washed off.
For styling and creating a wet effect
Some hairdressers use a coconut oil hair mask to detangle their strands by just applying it for literally 2-3 minutes. If you have long unruly hair, take advantage! There are stylists who use heated oil instead of styling – when it cools down, it hardens and perfectly fixes the styling. True, this method is suitable only for short hair and requires a certain skill – so as not to overdo it with the amount of oil.
For sun protection
For combing curly hair
Coconut oil can also be used to tame frizzy hair. Maria Nevskaya advises: “Apply a small amount of oil to the ends – the denser the curls, the coarser the hair, the more it will be needed. And after 2-3 minutes, start combing your hair – from the ends, gradually rising up.

They cover their heads with polyethylene, wrap them in a towel and wait 1,5–2 hours, and then wash them thoroughly with shampoo. For a good result, the procedure should be carried out at least once a week for 2-3 months. Some people like to make a coconut mask not during the day, but at night – and leave the oil on their hair until the morning. This is very useful for hair, but detrimental to bed linen. Don’t forget to cover the pillow with the towel you are willing to donate.

How to apply coconut oil on hair?
Here are detailed instructions on how to use coconut oil for hair.
First you need to warm it up a little, because, as we wrote above, at a temperature of +25 ° C and below it is a hard wax. Applying it in this state to the hair is an almost impossible task. You can pre-melt it in a water bath. Or you can just take a small piece in your hands and warm it up in your palms. Another option is to put a box or bottle of oil on top of the battery.
Then you need to evenly distribute it along the length of the hair – with your hands or with a hair coloring brush, whichever is more convenient (there are no “laws” on how to properly apply coconut oil to your hair).
If you want to make a mask for the roots, then you need to rub the oil into the skin with massaging movements. But often trichologists do not recommend doing this – otherwise, you will have to regularly use peelings for the scalp.
You can cover your hair with polyethylene and either warm it up with a hairdryer, or wrap it in a towel and look like this for a while. Or you can apply the oil for just a couple of minutes and immediately wash it off. There are many ways to use coconut oil for hair, it all depends on the task that you set.
Oily, color-treated or thin hair may not be suitable for coconut oil when used alone. In this case, just add a drop to your favorite masks and balms.
