Bosch dishwasher errors: how to fix

Modern Bosch dishwashers have a full-fledged intelligent self-diagnostic system. It is triggered when a malfunction occurs, which the user learns about using the error code that appears on the display.

To figure out why the dishwasher broke, you need to know what the codes mean. Below you will find a breakdown of the combinations and get a quick guide to action.

How Bosch fault codes are decoded

Bosch dishwasher errors will be more understandable if they are classified by type of fault. For your convenience, we have combined them into tables.

Heating problems

Codetranscript
E01 (or F01)

The heater contacts are out of order, or the heating element is burned out. If this is confirmed as a result of the check, the heating element must be changed.

Check the temperature sensor together with the heater.

E2 (or F2)

The error may alternate with the previous one.

E2 means a breakdown of the temperature sensor. A failure causes the heater to work poorly because the thermistor does not report water temperature information.

To confirm the breakdown, check the contacts of the temperature sensor with a tester. If the resistance is about 50 kOhm – the element is working, if there are deviations, it needs to be replaced.

E09 (or F09)

Fault codes E09 or F09 report problems with the flow heater. The E09 code appears in those PMMs in which the heating element is located in the circulation pump.

To eliminate the breakdown, replace the heating element. Before making repairs, check the part with a tester.

E11 (or F11)

What does the code E11 mean? He reports that the dishwasher’s temperature sensor is not powered. Second value: the circuit between the electronic board and the temperature sensor is broken.

An error can be caused by a “wagon” of factors, so the following need to be checked: the contacts of the temperature sensor, the wiring between the sensor and the board.

E12 (or F12)

The code is typical for Bosch dishwashers, in which hard water has accumulated on the heater.

If you rebooted the machine, and E12 appeared after the E09 code, it’s a matter of scale. Sometimes you can do without replacing parts – you need to remove and clean the heating element.

 Problems with draining and filling water in the Bosch dishwasher

There are few breakdowns in this group, much more codes themselves. Let’s look at them in a table.

Errortranscript
E3, F3

With code E3, the dishwasher stops working because the selected program did not draw enough water in the allotted time. At F3, water is automatically drained from the system.

If your dishwasher is more than 7-10 years old, its behavior may be different: the machine will give an error and wait until the required amount of water is collected.

Need to check:

Is there water in the tap?

Whether there is a blockage in the filter on the intake hose and at its inlet to the machine;

Is the water inlet valve working?

What is the condition of the level sensor?

Is the drain pump running?

E5, F5

Breakdown codes indicate that the Bosch PMM tank is completely filled. This happens if the machine takes on excess water, and the level sensor fails to control and stop the process.

The reason is the sensor. Check needed:

· his tubes for blockage;

contacts and wiring element;

filling valve (maybe it does not close completely, which is why water flows into the system without stopping);

control system (a rare case, the verification of which is better to entrust the master).

E8, F8By the nature of the breakdown, the error is similar to E3 or F3, because the dishwasher does not draw the required amount of water. Troubleshooting steps are the same as for E3.
E16, F16

These codes are displayed when the dishwasher does not block the access of water to the tank – it begins to flow in an uncontrolled amount. The failure is caused by a clogged intake valve.

Looking for:

· checking and cleaning the valve;

checking the level sensor;

Checking if there is excessive foam from the detergent (in the case when an error occurs during the operation of the machine).

E17, F17

Combinations E17 or F17 are displayed on the dishwasher display when there is a problem with water filling. Very “narrow” error – means that the valve closes with difficulty or its overlap is completely blocked.

If water hammer is to blame for the failure, then a reboot will help. And if there is constantly increased pressure in the water supply system, a partial shutoff of the water in the riser is required. At the same time, check the level sensor.

E21, F21

These codes indicate problems with the drain pump when it does not pump water. It is relevant if there is no break in the power circuit, and the pump interacts with all sensors and the board, but does not work.

Reasons for failure:

The impeller of the pump is jammed due to blockage or debris wrapped around it;

the rotor sticks to the bushing wall – in this case, in addition to E21, the code E22 is likely;

The pump is worn out and needs to be replaced.

 Problems due to blockages

Such errors are the most frequent “guests” in Bosch dishwashers. Systems become clogged because users forget to clean dishes before loading them into the PMM. Typical errors confirming the presence of blockages are indicated in the table.

CodeValue
E07 or F07The cause of the failure may be a mechanical restriction of access to the hole when the dishes are not correctly loaded into the machine. Also, the hole may be clogged with debris.
E22 or F22The code indicates contamination of one of the filters or indicates a malfunction of the drain pump (the impeller blades rotate with difficulty).
E24 or F24It occurs when the water drain hose is bent or clogged, when the sewer is clogged and the siphon drain outlet is blocked.
E25 or F25

In most cases, the cause of the error is a blockage in the drain pump nozzle (near the base). The pump cannot push water into the drain, the sensors report this to the board, and it blocks the operation of the machine and issues the E25 code.

Cleaning the pipe and the water drain hose, checking the impeller will help.

 Malfunctions of Bosch sensors

In a modern dishwasher, there are a lot of sensors that control dozens of processes and programs. If the sensors fail, the diagnostic system immediately responds to this with the appropriate code.

Codedesignation
E4, F4Occurs when the flow sensor breaks or is clogged. It is possible that hard water has created a blockage in the sprinkler nozzles, which is why water does not flow well and code E04 occurs.
E6, F6Water purity (turbidity) sensor failure. It is located next to the heating element. If the sensor itself is good, check the electrics, but usually you have to change the element.
E14, F14Code E14 confirms a malfunction of the sensor responsible for the volume of water supplied to the dishwasher.
E15, F15

The error is typical for modern models with the AquaStop system, it appears when a leak occurs. To eliminate the code, inspect the pan and hoses, make sure there is a leak.

If you do not find traces, inspect other elements of the system.

Electrician

All parts and sensors are connected by wiring to the control unit. If one wire out of all this mass burns out or frays, one of the codes may appear.

CodeValue
E01, F01

Code E01 indicates problems with the electrical or electronic component of the device. Before restarting the machine, make sure that the display shows E01 and not another code.

Did the repeated reboot help? Turn off the machine and contact the service.

E27, F27When connecting equipment to the mains directly, you can soon get the code E27 on the scoreboard. It occurs during voltage fluctuations. To protect the machine from complete breakdown, connect it using a stabilizer.

Now you know how to fix some of the mistakes of Bosch dishwashers with your own hands. Remember that the codes help you find a failure in a timely manner and prevent a total breakdown.
