If error E24 is displayed on the display of the Bosch dishwasher, then there is a problem in the system. The fault code tells the user where to look for the breakdown after it is decoded. The instructions for use indicate the meaning of all faults. Code E 24 most often indicates problems with draining.
How to correct the situation and reset the error, read below.
Causes of PMM malfunction
The manufacturer convinces: the first thing to check is the drain hose. During the rearrangement of the machine, it could be pinched or bent, which prevents the drainage of water. That’s just PMM gives an error at the beginning of the cycle, and not before draining.
What could be causing the problem:
- Sensor malfunction, incorrect readings.
- Drain pump problems.
- Electronic module error.
- Clogged drain filter, pump impellers.
Attention! If the E24 error on the display alternates with E22, these are problems in the drain filter; you need to take it out and clean it. More about how to eliminate the code E22written in a previous article.
It rarely happens that error 24 is not related to the drain.
Bosch dishwashers are equipped with a circulation pump. Inside the motor housing is a magnetic core that drives the impeller. The pulley where the core is installed is fixed on ceramic bushings. Over time, the bushings wear out, forming a wear. Water enters the motor and the movement of the core slows down.
The electronic board receives a signal about incorrect engine speed, therefore it displays a fault code on the display.
There are a lot of tips on the forums on how to deal with the problem. For example, open and close the bunker door, which will help reset the code. We recommend not to make such mistakes. So you only stop self-diagnosis, but the problem remains. The pump (motor) should be inspected, and if it breaks, replace it.
How to troubleshoot at home
The drain system must be cleaned periodically. This is the prevention of problems with blockages and drainage of waste water. The drain filter should be cleaned twice a month:
- After disconnecting the machine from the mains, open the hopper door.
- Remove the dish basket.
- Unscrew the filter cylinder and pull up.
- Rinse the mesh under running water.
- To get to the pump, remove any remaining water with a sponge.
- Push the cover inward until you hear a click.
- Pull up on the handle to gain access to the pump.
- Check if the impeller is turning (use protective gloves).
Additionally, check the drain pipe. Disconnect it from the sewer – if a blockage is found at the junction, use special tools to eliminate it.
Checking the drain pump
Over time, the pump becomes clogged with food debris, hair and debris are wound around the impeller. To check the operation of the part, you will have to disassemble the machine a little.
What to do:
- Disconnect PMM from communications.
- Place a rag and turn the case over, exposing the bottom.
- Loosen the screws securing the rear and side panels.
- Remove the bottom cover.
- A pump (pump) is attached to the engine or heater (depending on the model).
- Loosen its fastening screw.
- Check and remove the part.
After checking and cleaning, reinstall the pump.
To replace worn parts, choose only original spare parts for PMM of your make and model. Then the machine will work stably.
User Recommendations
If all the above methods did not solve the problem, do the following:
- disconnect the right panel of the Bosch dishwasher;
- pull out the seal;
- at the bottom of the plastic box, there are tubes (see photo below);
- disconnect the pipes, check and remove the blockage;
- try running the wash cycle again.
It’s not always easy to find and fix the problem right away. Sometimes you need to dig and disassemble the equipment to find the cause of the breakdown. We tried to show and explain to you how to deal with the problem without the help of a wizard. Related video:
