Bosch dishwasher error E15 – how to fix

Bosch manufacturers equip their equipment with a self-diagnosis system. As soon as a malfunction occurs, a malfunction code is displayed on the PMM screen. Facing a similar problem? Has your Bosch dishwasher displayed an E15 error? Look in the instruction manual – there is a decoding of fault codes. Usually error E15 means that there is a water leak. How to fix the problem yourself will be discussed in the article.

Why does the Bosch dishwasher give an error

How does the problem manifest itself? The machine stops working, the code E 15 is on the display or the “faucet” icon is lit. This means that the protection against water leakage or “Aquastop” has worked. To understand the cause of the problem, let’s look at the features of the protection operation.

In the PMM, the bottom is located at a slight slope. At the bottom is a foam float. When water enters, the float rises and presses on the sensor. As a result, protection is activated, the drain pump is turned on to pump out water, and an error is displayed on the display.

In some cases, the pump does not turn off and runs continuously, even if the dishwasher is turned off. Therefore, it is better to “cut off” the equipment from the network, otherwise the pump or switch may burn out.

What could be causing the water leak:

  1. Incorrect operation of the leakage sensor.
  2. Blockage in the drain path (filter, pump, hose, pipe).
  3. Poor pipe seal.
  4. Problems with the water sprayer (rocker arm).

Important! The formation of a large amount of foam can also cause the float switch to trip. Use detergent dosed, strictly according to the instructions.

How to fix the situation

All Bosch dishwashers are equipped with Aquastop protection, including Bosch Silence Plus models. First of all, you need to eliminate the failure in the system. This happens if the control module gives the wrong command and error E15 is displayed on the display.

You need to perform a factory reset. To do this, proceed in sequence:

  • unplug the machine;
  • wait 10-15 minutes;
  • reconnect.

If it was not possible to reset the code and it reappeared on the display, then let’s move on to other measures.

It is necessary to exclude sticking of the float sensor and remove water from the pan. To do this, shake the technique a little so that the float returns to its previous position. Then unplug the machine, tilt it at a 45 degree angle. Drain excess water into a lined container. You can dry the PMM by leaving the door open overnight.

What to do if your manipulations did not work? I’ll have to take apart the dishwasher. By following our instructions, you can handle simple repairs yourself.

We eliminate blockage

As we wrote above, the machine may show the E15 code due to a clogged tract. Fixing the problem is easy with your own hands. Most often, the drain filter is clogged, which suffers from the ingress of pieces of food, glass fragments, and debris.

Important! Before starting work, disconnect the PMM from the network, turn off the water supply. Wear gloves when cleaning the filter. There may be fragments of broken dishes.

Get started:

  1. Open the door.
  2. Remove all baskets from the bin.
  3. The filter is located at the bottom of the Bosch dishwasher.
  4. Take it out, remove dirt and rinse with running water.

To check the drain hose and pump, you will have to turn the PMM on its “back”, opening access to the bottom:

  1. Unscrew the screws around the perimeter that hold the bottom cover.
  2. Do not remove it completely, because the float sensor is attached to the other side.
  3. After opening the cover, unscrew the screw holding the sensor (you can replace it if it breaks).
  4. Move the cover aside.
  5. You have access to the “guts” of technology.
  6. Disconnect the hose from the pump using pliers.
  7. Check it for blockage and damage. Clean under running water or install a new part.
  8. To remove the pump and check for blockage, disconnect the connectors leading to it.
  9. Loosen the screw on the side.
  10. Turn the pump, remove.
  11. Inspect the impeller, check the gasket for damage and wear.

If the pump breaks down, it cannot be repaired. It is immediately replaced with the original part.

Installation is carried out upside-down.

Changing the sprinkler

Over time, some components of the Bosch dishwasher may become unusable. It is not difficult to replace the sprinklers – one of them is located under the ceiling of the hopper, the other from below.

  • remove the dish basket;
  • unscrew the lower sprinkler;
  • to replace the mount, grab it and unscrew it from the bottom;
  • screw in the new fasteners and install the new sprinkler.

To replace the upper rocker arm:

  • press the limiters and remove the upper basket;
  • a rocker is attached to its lower part;
  • pull the part and remove from the seat;

A common problem with sprinklers is a worn seal, resulting in leakage.

  • install a new rocker.

We have described the main causes of the breakdown of the Bosch PMM, in which the error E 15 appears. But that’s not all. The occurrence of a fault code may be affected by:

  1. Worn pipes and seals that leak over time.
  2. Damaged door seals, hoses, gaskets, clamps.
  3. Breakdowns in the hull, bunker.

If the dishwasher has stopped working, but does not give an error code, then test it. This will help determine the cause of the failure.

How to proceed:

  1. Get the technical manual.
  2. Read which key combination causes the autotest to run.
  3. After activation, the self-diagnosis system will detect the problem and display the code on the scoreboard.
  4. Find the decryption and start troubleshooting.

Having gained access to the internal parts of the machine, check all joints, clamps, pipes. Most often, the problem can be fixed with your own hands, without resorting to the help of service centers. We recommend that you follow the instructions while using the equipment, do not exceed the amount of detergents. Then the PMM will work for a long time and stably.
