Being outdoors guarantees your child better immunity in the future. Although many mothers are afraid of the impact of cool air on their children, there are many arguments in favor of walking even on cold days. Find out what to do and what to avoid so as not to harm your child and harden his body!
Many parents face a dilemma: on the one hand, they want to strengthen their children’s immunity, on the other hand, windy and frosty weather does not bode well for their health. Are such fears valid?
- It is worth tempering a child from the moment he is still an infant, because it strengthens his immune system. This means that the effects of low and high temperatures are not so dangerous for the body, because it “gets used” to different weather conditions. Contrary to appearances, it is babies who spend too little time outdoors that are definitely less resistant to all kinds of diseases. “Blowing and blowing” is not a good solution in this case – remember that the more hardened the body, the better the immunity!
- It is interesting that in cool places in the world, such as Scandinavia or rainy England, children are more often not released from classes by their parents than in Poland. In our country, children who have only the first symptoms of a cold are dismissed from classes much more often. It turns out that it is the method of parents from colder countries that is better: their children are more resistant, and in addition all their organs are better oxygenated, thanks to which it is easier for them to focus.
The best and proven ways to toughen up a child:
- Dress the baby in an onion. Several layers of clothes are the best solution for a winter or autumn walk. Protect your head, feet and hands especially. Cycling, brisk walking or playing cause overheating, and thanks to such clothing, you can take off or add one of the layers at any time. After overheating the body, e.g. as a result of running, the child should be dressed warmer than before starting the activity, because the effort causes the body to cool down. In such a situation, a common mistake is to take off clothes.
- Go to the mountains or the sea at least once a year. Climate change is a great way to boost resilience. Different weather conditions will have a great impact on the condition of the child! In addition, mountain air supports the fight against respiratory diseases and asthma, and sea iodine is even beneficial for the human body.
- Follow the rule of frequent walks. According to doctors, from the first days of a baby’s life it is worth “airing” it because it is hypersensitive to stale air. Newborns should be outdoors for about 15 minutes a day, and one to two hours a day for one-year-old infants. Airing promotes the production of white and red blood cells. In closed rooms, there is a greater risk of contracting the disease, because there are many bacteria and viruses in the air in a small space. It is therefore recommended to walk with the pram in the forest and park rather than in the shopping center.
- Always air your child’s room. In ventilated places, it is easier to think and sleep better. Ventilation is recommended especially before bedtime, moreover, the most recommended temperature for a child is 20 degrees Celsius.
