THE SENSES

“When a bear is in love” by Irina Zartaiskaya

From 5 years. The bear even forgot how to growl, because all his thoughts are about the Bear. He finds her reflection in the clouds and raspberries. Dances, smiles and forgets the way to the lair. In general, he behaves touchingly and slightly ridiculous, like all lovers. A tender story about a wonderful feeling that makes us better and kinder.

Antonina, 12 years old, read for us

“The Head of Charlotte” by R. J. Palacio

This is an honest story about the experiences of my peers. Through the eyes of the girl Charlotte, the author shows how the teenage society works with its own hierarchy: there are popular children, there are those who are not particularly noticed, and there are outcasts. They do not know each other to the end and therefore easily judge those who are different from themselves. But with people, as with books, you can’t judge content by its cover.

When the characters manage to look at each other, there is sympathy, and understanding, and friendship. Charlotte seemed to me to be a very sensitive girl, but she is very worried about the opinions of others, she wants too much to please the “cool” guys, she tries not to spoil her relationship with anyone. But gradually she understands how to express and defend her own opinion – and opens up differently.

When she gives her reward to another girl at the end, Charlotte is much more respected than at the beginning of the story. Of course, I know this feeling when you want the approval of others and you willy-nilly compare yourself with others. But I realized a long time ago: you can’t compare someone else’s stage with your backstage. The man shows what he wants you to see. And far from always the “stars” are as serene as it seems from the outside. Even in this story there are many quarrels and disagreements. The author shows how important it is to understand the situation before condemning someone.
