Libresse is one of the most famous brands of hygiene products. Hundreds of thousands of women around the world have appreciated the comfort and reliability of the products of this brand, which allow the fair sex to feel free and confident during the “critical days”.
Essity is the owner of the Libresse brand. It is one of two companies that SCA split into in 2017, the largest multi-brand manufacturer from Sweden, whose products are widely represented on the market in many countries.
Brand History
The history of the Libresse brand began in the 1940s. It was then in Sweden that Libresse launched the world’s first sanitary pads called Mimosept. They were made of corrugated paper and covered with mesh, which women had to tie on both sides themselves. This design was attached to the belt around the hips.
A decade later, in the 1950s, the SCA (Svenska Cellulosa Aktiebolaget) company installed a special machine in its production in Falkenberg, which tied knots on gaskets automatically. This was a real revolution, because other manufacturers either sold products without ties at all, just wrapped in netting, or the knots were tied by workers by hand. In Falkenberg, the process was automated for the first time.
In 1969, another revolution took place – Libresse introduced the world’s first pad, which could be attached to linen thanks to a special adhesive layer. Prior to this, feminine hygiene attributes could only be used with a special belt to which they were attached. In addition, the company improved product quality by changing the material from which the gasket surface was made.
In the 1970s, Libresse Anatomic gaskets appeared. They followed the contours of the female body, thus guaranteeing even more reliable protection. The manufacturer positioned this product as an ideal option for ladies who prefer flared jeans with tight hips.
A decade later, in the 80s, Libresse introduced two important innovations at once. First of all, the pads had wings, which contributed to the fact that they could be even more securely fastened to underwear. In addition, SCA launched the production of pads in individual packaging – now women have been relieved of the need to carry intimate hygiene products in special bags or cosmetic bags.
The nineties of the last century were marked by the appearance of Libresse Invisible. It was a real breakthrough – the thickness of the gaskets was now only three millimeters! This was achieved thanks to the use of Efficapt, a pressed cellulose material that spreads the liquid over the entire surface, preventing it from accumulating in one place.
Finally, in the 2001s, the world’s first thong pads appeared, as well as ultra-thin Invisible Goodnight night hygiene products. In XNUMX, the smallest Libresse Micro panty liners were introduced, which are suitable for any type of underwear.
Brand Assortment
The word Libresse itself is derived from the word “libre”, “freedom”. The brand’s slogan is “Live smarter”. The creators of the trademark mean that nothing should prevent the fairer sex from leading an active life and enjoying every minute even during critical days. The “chip” of the trademark is a blue rhombus, which is used in all its regional variations in different national markets.
It should be noted that the Libresse brand really has many names. So, in the UK, this brand exists under the name Bodyform, in France it is known as Nana, and in Italy – as Nuvenia. In Latin America, the Libresse brand is known as Saba, Nosotras and Libra.
To date, Libresse offers a wide range of feminine hygiene products – both for critical days and daily.
Panty liners for critical days
A series of pads for critical days is represented by three lines: the ULTRA series, Maxi Towels and Natural Care.
The Libresse ULTRA series includes seven products of two types: with mesh and soft surface. All of them are ultra-thin, of a special anatomical shape, with barriers that provide reliable protection and a special fast absorption system.
Maxi Towels are hygienic protection products designed for night use. They are available only with a soft surface. The anatomical shape provides maximum comfort and protection with a perfect fit, so you can sleep peacefully and soundly even on critical days.
Natural Care is a fragrance-free series with a perfectly soft surface imitating cotton. The pads are enriched with healing aloe vera and chamomile extracts that provide care and comfort while preventing inflammation and irritation. There are three products in this line: night, normal and super. All of them, thanks to the form repeating the outlines of the female body and special embossing, guarantee the most reliable protection.
Panty liners
The range of panty liners is represented by three lines: DailyFresh, Natural Care and thin panty liners.
The Libresse Dailyfresh series includes eleven products. Their distinguishing characteristic is a special “breathable” material, which, moreover, is enriched with a substance that is extremely useful for the intimate area – lactic acid. It makes it possible to maintain an optimal pH balance, inhibits the action of pathogenic microflora and takes care of incredibly sensitive skin.
The Natural Care series is represented by two products – wet wipes that can be used when changing intimate hygiene products and panty liners with a cotton-like surface and natural herbal extracts in the composition.
Finally, the line of thin dailies includes four products. Gaskets of this series are flexible and soft, and are also made of a special material that allows air to pass through. They contain lactic acid, which is so necessary to maintain a healthy microflora of the intimate zone. There is an opportunity to choose for yourself both a flavored version and an unscented product.
Composition of products and features of production
Libresse brand products have long established themselves as one of the best offers on the feminine hygiene market. Such a reputation is fully justified – the company has implemented strict quality standards, which include the use of only reliable materials approved by gynecologists.
All materials that are used to make branded products are safe and have been used worldwide for the production of hygiene products for many years. The main criteria that are taken into account when choosing a raw material are its absorbent properties, the ability to retain liquid, preventing leakage, and also guarantee comfort.
The surface of the products is made from a special fiber material, the raw material for which is polypropylene, polyethylene, polyester or viscose. The composition of the distribution layer is a special porous material made of wood or polyester fibers. Cellulose is used as an absorbent layer, sometimes in combination with superabsorbents.
Quality control
All materials that are used to manufacture Libresse brand products are subject to rigorous testing. It is carried out both by the company’s full-time experts and by independent specialists from certified testing centers.
In addition, the Libresse brand cooperates with EDANA, an international European trade association. This helps ensure the highest standards of product safety as well as sustainability. EDANA (European Disposables and Nonwoven Association) brings together companies producing nonwoven materials and includes forty committees that are involved in marketing research, provide technical support to members of the association, conduct training programs and seminars.
