Cosmetic oils give the body a seductive glow. But their functions are not limited to this – they perfectly moisturize even hopelessly dry skin and restore it after sunburn. What else are they capable of?
What you need to know about moisturizing oils
Manufacturers of cosmetic oils select the recipe so that each ingredient reveals its potential. Use technology to deliver nutrients to the skin. Therefore, modern oils are well absorbed, have a non-sticky pleasant texture.
Composition of cosmetic oils
Oils for moisturizing the skin that the beauty industry offers can include a whole range of ingredients.
Actually oils (coconut, almond, jojoba) nourish and moisturize the skin.
Panthenol restores and soothes.
Squalane softens and protects against moisture loss.
Urea restores hydrobalance.
Glycerin “seals” moisture, preventing its evaporation.
Vitamins B, C, E work as antioxidants.
Synthetic oils (for example, mineral oils) serve as a base, which is often indispensable.
If you have problematic skin, look for the “non-comedogenic” label on the oil packaging.
Mechanism of action
The oil forms a film on the skin that prevents moisture from evaporating. Nutrients penetrate inside, and moisture remains in the cells. Perhaps the best moisturizing properties have oils:
coconut;
shi (checkered);
sandals;
roses.
In the beauty world, perhaps the most popular body and hair oil today is coconut oil.
Useful Properties
In addition to moisturizing, body oils can perform the following functions:
increase skin turgor;
fight sagging and fine wrinkles;
saturate the skin with nutrients;
prevent and make less noticeable cellulite and stretch marks;
soothe the skin, protect against aggressive environmental influences;
relax or, conversely, invigorate, tone up.
The easiest, fastest and very useful way to improve your mood is a bath with fragrant oil.

Moisturizing body oils
Name | Active substances | Action |
Bath oil La vie est belle, Lancôme | apricot and almond oils | Moisturizes, softens the skin, makes it velvety. Take baths with a few drops of oil. |
Dry body oil Crème de Corps Nourishing Dry Body Oil, Kiehl’s | squalane, grape seed oil | Well moisturizes, improves skin texture, makes it soft and velvety. The oil is sold in the form of a spray – just spray it on the skin and allow time to be absorbed. |
Nourishing oil-spray for the body “Precious oil of beauty”, Garnier | argan and almond oils | Nourishes, moisturizes, gives radiance. The oil spreads easily and absorbs quickly. |
How to use
If you add a little oil (as much as needed to spread it over the body) in the bath, the skin after it will be soft and velvety, so applying a moisturizer may not be necessary. Anti-cellulite oil is not suitable for these purposes.
5 Mistakes That Unfairly Eliminate Oil from Moisture Care
There’s no arguing about tastes, but oil usually falls out of favor because it’s misused. Here are the main mistakes:
Over application. It is recommended to put a little oil on your fingertips and rub it lightly to warm it up before applying it to the skin. Take an additional portion only if you feel that some areas of care were not enough. The drier the skin, the more oil will be needed.
Wrong distribution. In order for the oil to be absorbed, you will need to make more efforts than in the case of a cream (the exception is dry oil). A longer self-massage while anointing the skin will bring double benefits.
Application to wet skin. Not everyone understands the difference between damp and wet skin. After a shower or bath, you should still pat your skin dry with a towel before applying care products. No water should drip or drip from the body.
Application of anti-cellulite oil outside of problem areas. Its warming-cooling effect will not be pleasant everywhere!
