Bobodent is a special gel that is used to minimize the painful symptoms of gingivitis, as well as severe signs of eruption of the so-called gingivitis. “Teeth of wisdom”. However, the drug may sensitize, so we check what precautions should be taken when using it.

Bobodent – action

Bobodent contains lidocaine, which has an anesthetic effect. Thanks to it, it is possible to partially minimize the pain. Bobodent gel it works well with teething in children, but it is also used by adults to relieve pain when “wisdom teeth” grow or inflammation develops in the mouth.

Bobodent – composition

Main active ingredient of Bobodent is mentioned lidocaine. In addition, the gel contains:

  1. chamomile dry extract;
  2. dry thyme extract;
  3. non-crystallising liquid sorbitol;
  4. sodium saccharin;
  5. methyl parahydroxybenzoate;
  6. propyl parahydroxybenzoate;
  7. carbomer 5984;
  8. proylene glycol;
  9. disodu edetynian;
  10. polysorbate 20;
  11. sodium hydroxide;
  12. Purified Water.

Bobodent – how to apply?

Bobodent gel should be used ad hoc. A drop of no larger than a pea is placed on a clean finger or a cotton ball and rubbed into the painful area. The gel should be used at least three times a day (maximum six) after each meal, and also before falling asleep.

Bobodent – contraindications

Due to the lidocaine content in the composition of the Bobodent gel, it should not be used in the event of an allergic reaction to any of the substances. In addition, any ulceration in the mouth precludes the use of a pain reliever. The same applies to damage to the mucosa and gums. Pregnant women should consult a gynecologist before using Bobodent, as lidocaine crosses the placenta and also into breast milk.

Bobodent – precautions

Precautions should be taken when using Bobodent gel. This is especially true for patients who have been found to be intolerant to certain sugars, as the drug contains sorbitol. In addition, consultations with a pediatrician are recommended if we want to give Bobodent to a toddler. Methyl parahydroxybenzoate and propyl parahydroxybenzoate can cause allergies, as can propylene glycol, which is responsible for skin irritations. You should also be careful when combining Bobodent with drugs such as:

  1. anticoagulants;
  2. tricyclic antidepressants;
  3. phenothiazine derivatives;
  4. inhibitory MAO.

Bobodent – side effects

The most common side effects include:

  1. hives;
  2. allergic reactions;
  3. swelling at the injection site;
  4. taste disturbance;
  5. abolition of the gag (gag reflex).
