Fishing methods
Bluefish is an object of industrial fishing. It is caught with a variety of net gear. At the same time, it comes across on hook, long line equipment when fishing for tuna and marlin. Quite often bluefish react to trolling lures. In recreational fishing, the most popular fishing method is sea spinning. Fish are caught both from the shore and from boats. In the Black Sea, bluefish are fished with various live bait and multi-hook rigs. In addition, bluefish are caught on fly fishing gear, this is facilitated by the lifestyle of the fish.
Catching fish on a spinning rod
For catching bluefish, most anglers use spinning tackle for fishing “cast”. For tackle, in spinning fishing for sea fish, as in the case of trolling, the main requirement is reliability. In most cases, fishing takes place from boats and boats of various classes. Rod tests must match the intended bait. In summer, flocks of bluefish approach the coastline, for example, they can be found near the mouths of rivers. It should be borne in mind that the Black Sea bluefish are somewhat smaller than those found in the Atlantic or off the coast of Australia. Related to this is the choice of bait and tackle. When shore fishing, longer rods are usually used, and do not forget that the bluefish is a very lively fish. For catching Black Sea bluefish, multi-hook tackle is also used, such as “tyrant” or “herringbone”. The latter is distinguished by the fact that in front of the oscillating baubles several diverting leashes with snags are placed. It is quite important to use various live bait equipment. When looking for fish, they often focus on seagulls and the so-called. “lufarin cauldrons”. Reels, too, must be with an impressive supply of fishing line or cord. In addition to a trouble-free braking system, the coil must be protected from salt water. According to the principle of operation, coils can be both multiplier and inertial-free. Accordingly, the rods are selected depending on the reel system. When fishing with spinning marine fish, fishing technique is very important. To select the correct wiring, it is necessary to consult experienced anglers or guides.
Baits
In most cases, various spinners and wobblers are considered the most popular baits when catching bluefish. In addition, various silicone imitations are actively used: octopuses, twisters, vibrohosts. In certain cases, baubles are suitable for plumb and trick fishing. For fishing on natural baits, juveniles of various marine fish are used.
Places of fishing and habitat
The largest populations of this fish live in the Atlantic, however, the fish is considered a cosmopolitan. Huge flocks of this fish live in the Indian and South Pacific Oceans. True, it is believed that bluefish do not live in the central part of the Indian Ocean, but it often appears off the coast of Australia and nearby islands. In the Atlantic Ocean, fish live from the Isle of Man to the northern coast of Argentina, and from Portugal to the Cape of Good Hope. As already mentioned, bluefish live in the Mediterranean Sea and the Black Sea, and, depending on the conditions, enter the Sea of Azov. Because of the delicious meat and lively disposition, bluefish are everywhere a favorite object in amateur fishing.
Spawning
Fish become sexually mature in 2-4 years. Spawning takes place in the open ocean in the upper layers of the water, the eggs are pelargic. Spawning in the Atlantic and adjacent seas, takes place in portions in the warm season, in June – August. The larvae mature quite quickly, switching to feeding on zooplankton.
