Homemade blueberry tincture turns out to be a beautiful ruby color with a mild taste and a slight aroma of berries. We will consider a classic recipe that retains the maximum of nutrients. Sweetness can be adjusted to your liking.
Ripe, juicy berries of any variety are suitable for making tinctures. First, blueberries need to be sorted out, removing spoiled, moldy and rotten fruits that can spoil the taste. As an alcohol base, ethyl alcohol diluted to 40-45%, store-bought vodka, distillate (moonshine) of double distillation or cheap cognac is used. In the latter case, tannic notes will appear.
Ingredients:
- blueberries – 2 kg;
- vodka (alcohol 40-45%, moonshine) – 1 liter;
- sugar – 250-750 grams.
Classic blueberry tincture recipe
1. Rinse the berries, let the water drain, crush with your hands or a wooden rolling pin until smooth.
2. Put the resulting berry puree into a container for infusion – a bottle or a jar. Add 250 grams of sugar.
3. Pour in the alcohol base (vodka, alcohol, cognac). Mix.
4. Close the container hermetically. Put for 15 days in a dark place at room temperature. Shake every 2 days.
5. Filter the resulting blueberry tincture through several layers of gauze, squeeze the cake well.
6. Taste the drink, add sugar if desired (to taste), mix, pour into bottles. Close tightly.
7. Before tasting, infuse for at least 5 days in a dark, cool place to stabilize the taste. If sediment or turbidity appears, filter through cotton wool. Fortress – 20-28% (depending on the amount of sugar). The shelf life of homemade blueberry tincture is up to 2 years.
