The Blue Lagoon cocktail tastes like citrus vodka, but with a noble blue color in a gradient style. Some bartenders practice mixing a cocktail with a bar spoon, which causes the cocktail to turn completely blue, without changing from light to blue.
History of the Blue Lagoon Cocktail
There are at least two versions of the origin.
According to the first, the cocktail was invented by none other than Andy McEllon, the son of Harry McEllon, the famous Parisian bartender and owner of Harry’s New York Bar, in the 50s of the last century.
According to another version, which can be attributed to the category of legends, the authorship of the liqueur belongs to the famous French post-impressionist artist Paul Gauguin.
Doctors forbade him to drink absinthe, and also recommended that he leave Paris and live in Tahiti.
Gauguin was very upset and largely because of this he began to experiment with various alcoholic beverages, including mixing them. As a result, he got a beautiful-looking cocktail, quite strong, but at the same time with a mild taste.
Considered a classic, the original Blue Lagoon recipe included vodka as the main alcoholic ingredient, but these days it is often substituted for white rum, gin, or various light liquors.
Cocktail variations Blue Lagoon
blue lagoon long – white rum or gin mixed with blue curacao liqueur and sprite.
