Blooming jasmine: why it doesn’t bloom
Blooming jasmine pleases its owner for a long time – flowering can last several months. It occurs at different times, depending on the variety, it can occur both in summer and in winter. But sometimes a florist is faced with a lack of flowering for a year or several years. Perhaps the reason for this is inappropriate conditions and improper care of the plant.
Jasmine is unpretentious, does not require special attention from the owner. But for abundant and high-quality flowering, it is necessary to create optimal indoor conditions for it.
Blooming jasmine should grow in a bright room.
The most important thing in keeping a flower is to follow these recommendations:
- Light room. Jasmine loves diffused light. It is better if it grows on the east or west windowsill. Protect it from direct sunlight if the window faces south. In a dark room, the plant, most likely, will not bloom.
- Suitable air temperature. The best option is 18-24 ° C, but in winter, a drop to 10 ° C will not hurt the flower at all. In a warm room, growth will be directed towards the volume of foliage. If the room is hot in winter, you need to ventilate it regularly, but avoid drafts.
- Air humidity. Its performance should be at a high level. For this, you can use special humidifiers. It is useful to spray the plant every day with settled cold water. You can put pebbles into the pan and pour water. We put the pot on the stones so that the bottom does not come into contact with the water.
When the jasmine is in bloom, you don’t need to spray it. The same applies to winter time if it is in a cool room.
Varieties of flowering indoor jasmine
The flowering period and its duration depend on the plant variety. The most popular types for home breeding are:
- Multi-flowered. Lianas up to 3,5 m long, evergreen shrub. You can admire its delicate white flowers from January to March.
- Sambac. A variety from Indonesia that is added to tea to flavor it. Shoots up to 6 m long give white flowers, collected in umbrella inflorescences. They can be either simple or terry. Flowering begins in March and ends in October.
- Short. Shrub with two-meter thin shoots. Yellow flowers grow in inflorescences and delight their owner throughout the summer.
2 weeks after purchasing the potted plant, transplant it to a permanent location. It is best to plant in a mixture of clay-sod and leafy soils, with the addition of peat and sand.
If all the recommendations are followed, the home shrub will delight with numerous fragrant flowers, and this will continue for many years.
