The dependence of the type of diet on the blood type is a proposal by Peter d’Adamo presented in his book “Eat according to your blood type”, published in the nineties. It should be noted at the outset that despite some effectiveness in weight loss, the d’Adamo theory has not been confirmed in any way in research and there are no scientific reasons to recommend a diet on such a basis. D’Adamo claims that, depending on the blood type, the human body accepts some types of food better than others; this is supposed to be due to the different reactions of the lectins in the food with the blood. Only the division into A / B / AB / 0 blood groups plays a role in the selection of a diet; the Rh coefficient is not significant in d’Adamo’s opinion.
General assumptions of a diet consistent with the blood type
Peter d’Adamo states that a diet consisting of most of the products recommended for a given blood group has a number of positive effects for the body; these are primarily general well-being and good health as well as maintaining a healthy body weight. In turn, eating large amounts of products for your own blood groups not recommended will be associated with deterioration of well-being, reduced physical fitness and numerous health problems. Diet composed of recommended products should be supplemented with “inert” products, and non-recommended foods should be completely ruled out.
