Almost everyone has had troublesome blisters on their feet at least once in their life. They appear especially when we put on new and not yet worn shoes or simply badly fitted shoes. Troublesome blisters on the feet are caused by rubbing a fragment of skin against a sock that is too thick and wrinkled or too stiff the material of which the shoes are made. Sometimes the causes of their appearance are also moisture, wearing too large shoes, playing sports and long hikes.
- Initially, there is abrasion, burning and strong redness of the skin, and then the formation of a pocket with serum fluid under one of its layers
- In the correct process, it should eventually form a scab and then heal the bladder. It forms very quickly, but usually takes about a week to heal
- Most often they form on the sole of the foot and on the heels. They are accompanied by pain, discomfort and sometimes even make it impossible to move normally
- More current information can be found on the Onet homepage.
Blisters on feet – how to treat?
In general, the resulting blisters should not be pierced, because the physiological fluid contained in them facilitates the healing of the abrasive lesion, protects it naturally and has antibacterial properties. It is best if it heals on its own.
If, on the other hand, the bladder on the foot makes it very difficult to function, it can eventually be done with a sterilized needle. It is important to remember to disinfect the bladder and the skin around it in advance. The skin covering the bladder is never cut. After drainage, press the skin of the bladder against the body with a gauze dressing, rinse the skin with hydrogen peroxide, alcohol or spray with a disinfectant preparation. Then it is advisable to smear the lesion with an antibiotic ointment and apply a dressing.
Ordinary dressings can be removed at night to allow air to enter the wound, which will result in its faster healing. You can buy special hydrocolloid patches in various sizes in pharmacies and drugstores. They will prevent blisters on the feet or they will perfectly cope with the healing of existing ones. They provide a moist wound environment, which facilitates and accelerates its healing. In addition, they absorb the bladder and do not stick to the wound.
Order today Waterproof plaster for blisters, abrasions and blisters, which is completely invisible, or Plaster for corns and abrasions with protective foam. You can buy both products at an affordable price on Medonet Market.
There are also sticks available to help prevent chafing and the formation of new blisters. If your shoes are chafing on the back, you should buy so-called silicone or leather heels and glue them inside the shoe. This often helps to avoid chafing, especially if you have new shoes.
If the bladder on the foot does not heal properly, it may have become a bacterial infection. Persistent swelling, severe redness, a feeling of warmth or burning in the lesion, yellow or greenish fluid in the bladder, and the appearance of a fever are usually signs of an infection. See your doctor if your symptoms worsen and do not go away, especially if you have diabetes.

Home remedies for foot blisters
You can also use home remedies that will help to heal blisters on the feet quickly and efficiently.
It is recommended to lubricate them with aloe vera gel or coconut oil, because they have an antiseptic effect, relieve discomfort caused by abrasions and repair damaged skin. You can use them separately, but mixing them will also work. They should be applied several times a day without rinsing until completely absorbed.
Soaking your feet for about 20 minutes in warm water with sea salt with the addition of tea tree or lavender oil or chamomile infusion will also have a beneficial effect on the changes.
How to avoid blistering feet?
You can minimize the risk of stubborn blisters on your feet by wearing properly fitted and comfortable footwear. Do not buy shoes that are too small and too large, and those that put too much pressure on, for example, the toes or heels.
Avoid wearing socks made of synthetic materials, opt for cotton or bamboo ones. If you plan longer hikes, choose special trekking socks with wool.
Take care of foot hygiene and regular pedicure, use appropriate antiperspirants to reduce foot sweating. Use leather or silicone heels.
Use hydrocolloid patches preventively in areas that are most prone to chafing and blistering, especially if you are going to put on new shoes. Alternatively, use preparations aimed at preventing blisters on the feet, i.e. the above-mentioned sticks and sprays. We recommend, for example, SOS stick for abrasions and blisters FLOSLEK Ballerina.
