For all the seeming safety and widespread prevalence of eyelid plastic surgery, it is still a surgical intervention. Therefore, first the patient undergoes a full examination, after which, with local or general anesthesia, excess pieces of tissue are excised, fat is removed, and sutures are applied to the site of the incisions. The latter are usually removed a few days after the operation. Often, blepharoplasty of both the lower and upper eyelids is performed at the same time, but the doctor makes the final decision on the need for such a procedure.

Recovery is almost painless, although there may be some short-term loss of vision, a feeling of dryness and irritation of the mucous membranes of the eyes. Bruises and swelling are an inevitable consequence of this kind of surgery, but they go away quickly enough. After removing the stitches, the marks from them disappear in a couple of months. Immediately after the operation during the recovery period, physical activity is contraindicated, it is forbidden to use cosmetics, it is not recommended to wear lenses and drink alcohol.
Reviews of blepharoplasty and its possible negative consequences
No one is guaranteed from the negative consequences of surgery, although mostly reviews of blepharoplasty are positive. The appearance of the face is restored, and the swelling disappears after a few days. As possible complications, there is a drooping of the lower corners of the eyelids, as a result of which the look becomes, as it were, sad, and the shape of the eye itself changes. With an excessively large amount of tissue removed, the eyelid can be pulled down, although such a defect is rare and usually goes away on its own. Therefore, it is so important to choose a clinic in which professionals in their field work.
