Blackthorn tincture on vodka (alcohol, moonshine)

Homemade tinctures of vodka on the turn (another strong alcohol) are popularly called “Blackthorns”. They turn out fragrant beautiful dark color with a rich taste. Depending on the sugar content, they are served before meals or for dessert. We will consider the classic recipe and technology for preparing this drink.

For thorn tincture, ripe fresh, frozen or dried fruits are needed. Fresh ones must first be sorted out, removing rotten and moldy berries. Frozen thaw and dry. Dried turn is required 2-3 times less than in the recipe, and the tincture will be stronger.

Turn insist on vodka, diluted to 40-45% ethyl alcohol, cognac (gives an interesting aftertaste) and purified moonshine, preferably double distillation.

Ingredients:

  • blackthorn berries – 1,5 kg;
  • vodka (alcohol, cognac, moonshine) – 1 liter;
  • nutmeg – 1 pinch (optional)
  • sugar – 100-300 grams.

Blackthorn tincture recipe

1. Wash the berries well, remove the seeds. When insisting on an alcohol base, harmful substances are released in the bones.

2. Fold the pulp with the peel into a jar, add nutmeg (optional), pour vodka.

3. Mix well, tightly close the lid and put in a dark place at room temperature for 12-15 days. Shake the contents of the jar once a day for the first 7 days.

4. Strain the thorn tincture through several layers of gauze and cotton wool to clear the drink of turbidity.

5. Add sugar to taste, mix, close tightly.

6. Aged 2-3 days, then bottled for storage. Fortress – about 30%. Shelf life up to 5 years.
