Blackroot officinalis: cultivation
Blackroot officinalis is often found in the wild. The plant is poisonous, but capable of being beneficial, so it can often be found in summer cottages.
Description of medicinal blackroot
It is a biennial herb with a strong, unpleasant odor. Its flowers have a frightening dark red or purple color. All parts of the grass are covered with fine white hairs. A photo of the medicinal blackroot is presented below.
With the help of this herb, gardeners get rid of rodent pests. It has a detrimental effect on their nervous system, killing them.
Any part of the flower can be used to combat mice and rats, but the most effective is the brown-red root. By spreading it out in the room, barn or in the beds, you can easily and quickly eliminate all uninvited guests.
The plant should not be in a place accessible to children and pets, as it poses a great danger to them.
To protect the shrubs, blackroot leaves can be spread between the branches, and in order to save fruit trees, it is enough to put cut and even dried stems and leaves of a poisonous plant on the trunk circle.
Growing medicinal blackroot
The most reliable protection from rodent attacks on the garden will be provided by growing grass in a summer cottage.
There are two ways to get a rat-driving plant:
- Planting seeds in late autumn or early spring, deepening them a few centimeters into the ground. Seeds can be harvested from a ripe wild plant or purchased from a specialized store.
- Transfer of an adult plant from the wild to the garden. To do this, it is dug out with an earthen lump and carefully transferred to a pre-prepared landing hole. For better rooting, you need to use root fertilization.
In leaving, the black root is absolutely unpretentious. Watering is carried out only for the first time after transplanting or after the germination of seeds and the formation of the first full-fledged leaves. Further, soil moistening is carried out only under conditions of high temperatures and drought.
Grass propagation occurs by self-seeding. In place of the flowers, boxes with seeds inside are formed, which are carried by the wind. Therefore, in order to prevent the reproduction of a poisonous plant throughout the garden, you need to collect the seed pods in time and destroy.
After any contact with the rat runner, you need to thoroughly wash your hands, and it is better to use protective gloves and a face mask.
It is completely easy to grow this plant in your summer cottage. It grows like a weed and requires little or no maintenance. But the benefits it brings are invaluable. Indeed, with its help, you can save the harvest and protect trees and shrubs from damage.
