Black hen (henbane venomous, mad black, Hyoscyamus niger L.) is an annual or biennial plant with an unpleasant, slightly intoxicating smell. It grows in hovels, garbage dumps, roads and wastelands. It blooms from June to October.

When fresh and dried, the whole plant is poisonous, probably the root and seeds are the most poisonous. The active substance is alkaloids scopolamine i hyoscyamine. These alkaloids differ from atropine in that they act as a depressant on the central nervous system.

Symptoms of poisoning

They are similar to hives poisoning with wolfberry. The pupils are dilated and the mouth is dry. Usually reddening of the skin of the face occurs, reddening of the rest of the body may not occur. Strongly expressed psychomotor agitation.

Pre-medical procedure

It is necessary to provoke vomiting, quickly put the poisoned person in the hospital.
