Black Heel Disease

Syn .: Black heel, pseudochromidrosis plantaris, hyperkeratosis. Def .: Post-traumatic bleeding into the stratum corneum of the heel.

Epid .: Most often among professional dancers, sportsmen: basketball players, volleyball players, especially at the beginning of the season.

Etiol .: Rapid pressure around the skin with an excessively developed stratum corneum.

Clinical: Dark brown or black spots, linear or dotted. Changes are painless.

Hist .: Presence of a reddish brown pigment in the stratum corneum.

DR: Pigmented nevus, melanoma.
